Ok, last chance to get your name down on the group booking for cheap Sunday tickets. I have Matto180 for one, and I will be completing the forms and sending off with payment tomorrow, so if you want to go down on the list you have till about 16:00 Thursday 3rd July to tell me. The group booking means it is £6 per person.

Re: MGFest08 - 26th/27th July 2008
Had an email from Tim the other night and wasn't happy. He won't let Kate have a free ticket. I know partners weren't included in the deal but Kate had her name down as helping with the MGF Register stand from the beginning. So I'll be paying for her to attend and she'll be doing absolutely nothing but enjoying the weekend as a visitor!!!!
Any chance you can sort one out in the party discount? I've just ordered our camping pass.

Re: MGFest08 - 26th/27th July 2008
Rich, I'm not sure that's any use. I can ONLY do discounted Sunday tickets. Group booking is for tickets of one type only, so no good for a weekend pass or Saturday tickets.
Application will be sent off at 16:00 today, so if anybody is only coming for the Sunday and wants a ticket at £6 you have until then to let me know!

O.k. so looks like i will be able to get sat off for mgfest
I'm a little confused with the road runs is anyone else from sms taking part?? I take it we would join up from abingdon and drive in convoy and need a pre-booked weekend ticket??
As i just turned up on sunday last year and parked in the carpark i'm not sure if you arrive noon sat will i still be able to stick my tent somewhere and park inside event??

I'm not so sure anyone from SmS in our part of the region is going on the runs as they are both rather out of the way. But if anyone wants to do a convoy from our direction, perhaps a list can be done here.
Kate & I will be setting up Friday and we'll mark the SmS area ready for everyone to join us. The best advice is to get an advance ticket as then you'll be able to drive straight in. However, if you pay on the day, you should still be able to set up with us. The only thing that would prevent it is space! Also, I would advise that if you're coming on Saturday, try to get to Gaydon mid morning. Although the main event doesn't open until 12noon, you can set up in the camping area before, especially if you're helping out as you'll be needed straight away!

Me and a friend from work will be doing the road run from the Dog House in Abingdon. It's only 10 mins down the road from us. If you do decide to do it i'll be in a Sunspot TF and my friend will be in a Trophy Blue TF.

Re: MGFest08 - 26th/27th July 2008
Latest bit of news is that there will be a real ale bar there during the day on both Saturday and Sunday, where you will be able to enjoy some fantastic award winning beers. But, more importantly is there will be an MGFest beer which will be for sale in limited edition bottles. It is a dangerously dark, strong bitter with a rich malt complexity. Brewed with the finest pale, crystal and chocolate malts and choice English hops. This particular beer has been based on one that was voted the Champion Beer of Warwickshire 2007. The bottles are 500ml and it is 5.2% ABV.
So, if you want one of these, you will need to be at MGFest and head for the 'Real Ale Bar' in the MGFete area.

Err Max, we might have a problem there... Kate and I are going out before we go over to Gaydon. We've also got to take the dog to the kennels. Sorry...M77XNE wrote:Rich, I will be following you down there if that is okay? I finish work on the 23rd, so I am FREEEEEEEEe to make it anytime
Is there anyone else from our region who could run a small convoy for Max to join? We can't have her getting lost!
Rich.

saturday road run
Richard why are you not encouraging people to join the road runs. We went to a lot of work to set these up and when people are asking you if they should go on them you are either saying that you do not think people from your area will be going or you will be leading a convoy from Northants. If people want to travel down and have a bacon sandwich and meet other drivers and go in formation to the fest isn't this what it is all about. What is the point of Tim asking us and Keith to set up runs if you are discouraging people to join in and to top it up by suggesting you make a convoy from your area. This is when people meet from all areas not just SMS.

Re: MGFest08 - 26th/27th July 2008
The reason I'm not on a road run this year is that last year the convoy was from the venue (after you'd set up if camping,) a cirular route and back to the venue.
This year - for me- its a drive in the wrong direction from where I am in order to drive back past where I live to get to the venue (with car packed to the gunnels with camping gear, my wife and a fair bit / a lot of wine / beer).
Personally I really liked the road run last year and the format this year isn't right for me.
I'd hazard a guess for most of us in the Northants area it's a similar issue, I'm really looking forward to meeting people from outsde the region once we get there and catching upwith some of the guys from .org and the register forums.
I am on the Heritage road run on Sunday though

Photo competition
As some of you may know, we're having a photo competition for MGFest08. There are two categories, the first for MGF/TFs and the second for other models. As you have been sending in some decent pics to the forum, I've taken the liberty to include them in the competition too... Just one of the advantages of having me running it! It should be noted that it won't be me judging the pics so I cannot be bribed...
Any more pics, just send them to my official MGF Register email address, southmids@mgfregister.org

Maxie - I have a meeting in Milton Keynes Friday lunchtime - will be finished by about 2pm, so perhaps we could meet somewhere and I'll make sure you get there in one piece.
I may look a bit odd rocking up at Fest in a suit - but hell - never mind eh!!

I'm definitely not discouraging anyone from doing the runs! I know how much work you and Keith have put into the runs and I'm hoping you've had many takers. As one of the organising committee again this year, I thank you very much for your efforts. In fact, I voted for these runs to be held at our first 'Fest08 meeting and if you remember it was me, not Tim, who approached you to ask if you could do the southern run back at the AGM.Young wrote:Richard why are you not encouraging people to join the road runs. It's just that Northampton is neither North or South of the venue (where the runs are starting) so it would mean driving twice the distance to get there and not everyone wants to drive that far. This is from what I have heard from a few people. I was suggesting that if anyone wanted a convoy from the East, it could be arranged as a 'non-official' run. It's all about giving people the choice. Three or four cars heading directly from Northampton shouldn't make any difference to the 'official' runs if that's what they have decided to do.
Having been responsible for the run last year, from planning and printing the route to starting the cars off, I thank you for your comment. I think the reasons it was decided not to do it in that format this year were that people last year suggested runs into the event and also that HMC always do a Heritage run for single marque events held at Gaydon. We'll have to see what the general concensus is after this year's event and make decisions for MGFest09 based on that.Nick wrote:Personally I really liked the road run last year and the format this year isn't right for me.
I think the real thing we should be concerned about is the situation Stewart has covered in the members' section here. I know that there are quite a few SmS members hard at work on this. Well done people!
I would like to make it clear that as the founder of SmS, I've always tried to offer something for everyone, whether it's an SMS event, MGF Register event, or a general activity. As the saying goes, you can't please everyone all the time, but at least I can try...
Rich.

Yep. As you guys had already said which ones you liked, I've entered the best of them. You'll see them on the MGF Register stand...
