Re: ZedTen - 10th Anniversary Event - 24th July 2011
I'm doing the .org convoy from Royston so I'll see you guys there.
I'm guessing we're parking by Zed/F order rather than as a SMS stand?

Yeah, all the Zeds are in their specific model areas and the rest of us are in the 'Other MGs'...
I'm sure we'll all find each other anyway... See you there!

Interesting little snippet on admission cost.
If you look at the Duxford WEB site, they offer reduced admission cost of £13.20 for adults for organised group visits (minimum 10 people) but we are paying £14.95.
Would be cheaper to do an SmS group visit and park in the main car park!

That might be the discount MG drivers get. That may be the way it works, as we are part of the MG group attending...

I'll see you all there as I have to be in by 9am which means getting up about 6-6.30 in the morning, ON A SUNDAY

Too late to stick my name down for this? Said to Lee that I'd be popping along as I'm heading to MK on the Saturday for a RR session anyway
I shall have a look at the convoy details in a bit and figure out what the best plan would be for me

No, not too late. We're all paying on the gate. I'll add you to the list. Could you stay over at Lee's and join the convoy?

Thanks for adding me to the list Rich
Just remembered that I'm running in with the .org lot as we're meeting up for breakfast at the Silver Ball Cafe
Shall see you all there

Ditto-crash at mine (not literally-I like my fence intact ) if Lee hasn't booked you in already and we can go for a beer or three on Saturday eve if you're up for it? Maybe arrange another .org meet

For those that did not know the reduced rate admission to Duxford is £14.95 per person.

Shouldn't be a problem mate, I'll check with the 'rents when they return on Wednesday but they never have visitors
What do you fancy, pub, Chinese, Indian or other alternative entertainment?

Re: ZedTen - 10th Anniversary Event - 24th July 2011
I thought that was the normal gate price. Somebody said something about it being £13.80. Still, not bothered. Duxford is good value for a day out, providing it's not too wet...adrianvvc wrote:For those that did not know the reduced rate admission to Duxford is £14.95 per person.

Well there we go then. We have more than 10 of us in the convoy (people, not cars)!StevePem wrote:That was me - Duxford WEB site says they offer discount price of £13.80 for organised groups of 10 or moreRich wrote:I thought that was the normal gate price. We may well join you at the Priory on Sunday rather than be picked up on route.
Assume we will be there but I will text you (Rich) on Sunday morning to confirm or if for any reason we revert to the A45 Layby pick up.
My wife is coming and I have a friend joining us so will be three of us in the car so Ed and Sarah will be in their own car. Ed had his TF MoT'd yesterday and it failed on brakes (hoses I think) hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow otherwise he will be coming in the BMW.

Re: ZedTen - 10th Anniversary Event - 24th July 2011
What a day. Very long and I'm truly kn***ered and I think I know a couple more people who might feel the same... But it was great.
Although the actual show was a little smaller than I expected and there were no traders, there was an interesting and varied collection of the Zed range indispursed with a few DNA sharing Rovers to have a gander at, all nicely presented. It was a shame that all other MGs were put in a field on the other side of a few large buildings so we felt as if we weren't part of the action. That might be down to the venue though.
We spent most of our time looking at the Duxford aircraft displays which had expanded a lot since I was there last. And we were entertained by a few actually flying. The funniest part of all was when we were in a hanger and the distinct sound of a Merlin engine was heard. Obviously there were more than a few aircraft enthusiasts amongst us as the hanger quickly emptied and outside all were staring to the skies as a Spitfire accompanied by a Mustang did another flypast before landing in front of us.
Enough of the chat... My pics are HERE... all 116 of them!

Yes, a really great day, as you said, brilliant to see the Mustang and Spitfire flying tandem and also the little De Haviland - very thirties!
Lack of traders was a double edged sword - I didn't buy anything.
Congratulations to Iain on his double victory!
My pal Chris was eyeing up the black TF 160 that was for sale so you never know, masy be a new member before too long.
see you all on 4th August
cheers
Steve

Re: ZedTen - 10th Anniversary Event - 24th July 2011
I had a lovely day wandering around with some of the south mids crew, some lovely cars and even though im not an aircraft enthusiast I still think it was amazing seeing the spitfire come in and to be close enough to reach out and touch it as they were bringing in to the hanger:)
OMG! Did Ian win Pride Of Ownership?! Wow, thats Sounds fantastic and well deserved I think! Congrats to you, I'm very pleased for you

Re: ZedTen - 10th Anniversary Event - 24th July 2011
I, for one, am fooked
I didn't manage to look around the main hangar but got around everything else-the fly pasts were excellent and I enjoyed the Battle of Britain hangar.
Must admit Rich-I was a little surprised there was no "official infield" TF/F parking, but again the layout of the grounds didn't help much.
The ZS won it's class in PoO and also the Chairman's Choice award although rather embarassingly I was rabbiting away to Dan and another chap when my name was called, so I looked a complete prat !
It's just a shame I don't have £35,000 for that ZT500...I want! Plus a ZR in Celestial Blue, a ZT in Biomorphic...I could go on!

Re: ZedTen - 10th Anniversary Event - 24th July 2011
Yes, a great day all round. we did like many others moan about the entry cost but when you start to see what is available and it takes all day to see it then you begin to understand the enormous expenditure involved in keeping this display of aircraft together. Billions of pounds worth, Black Bird and a B52 included, wow.
Congrats Ian, well done ....
Thank you all for a very enjoyable event.

Re: ZedTen - 10th Anniversary Event - 24th July 2011
Had a really good time looking around both the museum and cars on display.
Some interesting monogram colours that I hadn't seen before.
Didn't realise it was Iain who won the PoO, but that happens when you don't know forum people. Well done.
