Well, I finally got my MS slick shift to shift slick. Still had a few other little things to sort out but things were looking good - now I have something bigger to sort out

hit the railway sleeper on the edge of my drive :-(

I have to creep out onto the single track drive from the house to check for traffic from both directions. It is a bit of a blindspot until half the car is onto the drive. I turned a bit too early while I was checking the opposite direction. I must have parked a bit closer to that edge than I normally do.

The worrying thing is there was very little "resistance" and did not really feel I had made contact till it was too late. Before I got out of the car I assumed I had caught the wheel or maybe the rear of the wheel arch against the end of the sleeper - was a bit gobsmacked when I saw the size of the dent and therefore how easily it had caved in!

Just have to wait for the insurance company to tell me if they will pay for the repair or write it off. If it can be repaired (i.e. pulled out) it will cost around 700 but if it needs a new panel, they are listed at Rimmers for just under 500 so that plus fitting and spraying cost could take it well into "write off" territory so then have to go through the process of buying it back etc
