I think Aphrodite is poorly :(

Morning everyone!

I filled Aphrodite up last night and got in her this morning and she smells of petrol so much Full tank still appears to be there! has anyone else had this problem?? Is this common?

If you filled the tank to the brim, it's a very common thing on both Fs and TFs. Not much you can do about it either. Generally, I used to fill it to about 3/4 tank and the problem went for me. Haven't filled the new one up so don't know if it'll do it too!

I must admit I have only filled it to the brim twice! Friday and last night! And both times it stunk! I'm scared to drive her incase she dies Will it be safe to drive her?

I would think so. See if the smell is still there after a few miles. You should be fine with the roof down. You don't want to gas yourself!

the petrol smell in my car was due to a split fuel pipe. It might be worth checking the same hasn't happened to you.

If its only when you fill it up most likely it will be the common breather hose on the fuel filler neck pipe being perished and weeping fuel or just allowing the fuel smell to vent into the cockpit.

If your worried and un able to get it looked at soon then when you need fuel just fill it up 3/4 of the way rather than full to reduce the pressure in the system so it wont smell as bad

Our 'F' smelt of fuel quite often but lately I have not noticed it, probably got used to
it or the breather pipe has sealed up for some reason. Quite common as Rich and Matt say and nothing to worry about . It could be a sign of another problem however, so do keep an eye out in the engine bay for weeping pipes etc, poke your nose in and have a look around
just to be sure.

Thank you all for your advice on Aphrodite! I have used a quarter of fuel and touching wood the smell has gone! however I am getting Trevor to look over it at the weekend Hopefully its cured now and in future I will only fill it up to 3/4
