Pub meet in Beds - 19th April 2009
After lots of digging about and not many suggestions except for returning to a particular favourite, it looks like that's where we are doing...
... yes, it's The Globe, Linslade, Leighton Buzzard (LU7 2TA). Kate has found an interesting article about the pub, which you can read here.
If you're interested in coming along, please just add your name as usual. Hopefully we'll have decent weather again for this one as the canal walk is great!
Attendees on the convoy
Toby Carvery, East Hunsbury - 10:30am

Should make this one too. Day after Longbridge I see. Very nice pub this one. If the weather is kind it will be good. May be tempted to put the folding bikes on the 'F'

Smashing... So you'll arrive at the pub, then disappear!
Should make a great photo opportunity...

The Globes a great venue the weathers always favored it too, count me in, I'll meet up for the convoy at the Toby might have some of my new bits of 'bling' fitted if they ever arrive!

Please note I've changed the meeting time at the Toby Carvery to 10:30am. I think that's plenty of time for a decent hack down the A5 again...

Cool a lie in for me I'll see you there at 10:30...I might be picking your brains about a set of driving lights - and how to wire them up to an original front foglight switch, it's my next possible mod.

No problem Nick. I've become a bit of an expert when it comes to fog light switches, as I'm sure Seb will agree. Drivers you say? Hmmm.

Stu, I've no word from Lee yet so not sure we'll be doing a Yardley stop. Did you want to be picked up closer to your home, drive up to the Toby Carvery or make your way there directly?

I will check it out tommorrow, can't think of a layby, maybe little chef slip road off a5 roundabout where it meets A 4146 , I would be able to see you(or hear you) pass from there.

No problem. We'll be taking the same route as before, so you should see/hear us with not problem. We'll slow down to give you a chance to join quickly.BlueStu wrote:I will check it out tommorrow, can't think of a layby, maybe little chef slip road off a5 roundabout where it meets A 4146 , I would be able to see you(or hear you) pass from there.
Might be a tad late though... I'm watching the GP!

Re: Pub meet in Beds - 19th April 2009
DIfficult to say but around 11am I would think. It all depends whether everyone turns up on time at the Toby, as they might ALL be watching the GP!
Interesting race, don't you think!

Yep. Coming down A5 duel carriageway to big roundabout just past Fenny Stratford, then heading down towards Leighton Buzzard on the A4146 new road...
Off to get some fuel now, then to the Toby... See you there!

Re: Pub meet in Beds - 19th April 2009
Once again, a superb meeting and beautiful weather. The food was just spot on and cool drinks were the order of the day in the heat. Shame about the dogs that wouldn't stop barking at each other, but the Swan-duck battle made for some great entertainment. The result could have been bad but once again the underdog (underduck?) came out the victor!
Good to see Seb's Grape gleaming in the car park with the various new mods to show off and Nick's car looking showroom sparkly. Ollie would have been as clean except for the dusty spots left by the storm a couple of nights ago which I hadn't had time to polish off.
A lovely drive there and back too with a stop off to look at a shiny TF160 80th Anniversary on the way home. Overpriced and something not quite right, but in good condition none the less.
Pics on the website!

Re: Pub meet in Beds - 19th April 2009
Yes a very nice day in the sun. Talked to my cousins most of the time (sorry about that. Lot to catch up on) Does not sound as though I missed much with the TF. We took a different route back. Hood down you will be pleased to note.!
I like the trim on the Anniversay TF but also like my ORIGINAL F. It has quite some history for us now. NZ/UK/EU etc. Spent quite a bit on it, pity to give that to some one else.
Catch up with you all soon. Another successful SMS outing. Thanks.

Great meet, good food, good company, great to see you all, the swan / duck battle was pretty amazing, Brilliant weather,as always with the Globe so it seems!
Oh and BTW I thought the TF was pretty good personally - overpriced by £1500 but in nice nick and only 32K...but I am biased I do have a soft spot for the 80th anniversary.

Get a set of seats (allbeit without the embroidered badges), matching door pads and a red hood and your car would be far better that the 80th anniversary TF. And it would be number one in a series of one!Nick wrote:Oh and BTW I thought the TF was pretty good personally - overpriced by £1500 but in nice nick and only 32K...but I am biased I do have a soft spot for the 80th anniversary.
