Re: Superchips & secret mods!
Poor Andy Knott, he has only just fitted his one, and so he will be the only SMS member with one for about 2 mins, and then everybody will have them! I've been speaking with him about borrowing his tailpipe finishers as a test to see if I can fit them to the TT MK3, so mine will look like one, but have the proper sound of a straight thru exhaust!Nick wrote:I know Mike is looking at that exhaust as well, so if he doesnt pick up a bargain Daytona at Stoneleigh, he'll be down the MGF centre as well!
There'll be more Scorpions in the SMS than there are standard exhausts at this rate

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
cheers guys. I'll try to get a better photo in the day light. The cars still on axle stands, trying to get it ready for Stoneleigh. The black discs are fitted on the rear as well as front. Stew I fixed the blowing downpipe, Firegum a mans best friend . The tailpipes are only clamped on lightly if you want to try them on your TT, I'm sure when we spoke a while ago you made a comment about the tailpipes being a bit 'girly'

That's only because during the week you drive a girly car, and cos you keep trying to say my LR is pink!!!!
If you haven't clamped them on tightly, make sure you don't loose them when you drive up to stoneleigh! Or worse still, make sure nobody nicks them.....

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
Easy, remove old exhaust at the cat, which can be the hard part, but probably not so bad on yours, as it's not likely to have got too badly corroded. then there are a couple of hangers which are clamped between some rubber. Put new one on, but buy some descent cat bolts, and then once it is on, you then slip the finishers on through the holes of the bumper and tighten the clamps around them.
That's kind of it in a basic form, but it really shouldn't be too difficult to do. Can help you out if you are unsure or get stuck.

And very helpful! Thank you! Have been in email communication just now, and it's all sorted for tomorrow evening. They are being sandblasted during the day to make nice and clean for me!dressur wrote:Yep - you rang me up in the middle of the night to talk about mods!

Stew as I said mate its not my name on the Fiat 500 log book. I believe it's your nsme on the pink toy plastic landrovers
I'm sure the tailpipes are on tight enough, i'll keep an eye on you at Stoneleigh just incase though. If they do go missing i'll have to speak to your girlfriend nicely to see if she could let me have any more.
DK the exhaust is fairly straight forward to fit. Have you got standard nuts holding the silencer to the cat or are they the 1.5" long ones that cover all the thread? If you need a hand just give me a shout.

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
can I do it with tear bumper still on?
Part the reason I'm considering doing it now is because the exhaust was dismantled recently anyway when HG was done so should come apart ok again now

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
AFAIK, yes. Certainly with an F you can, and I expect it to be the same for the TF, as you just slide it through before clamping it up and joining it to the cat.Dark Knight wrote:can I do it with tear bumper still on?

DK no problem with the bumper on mate just need to jack the car up a bit. To get to the bolts that hold the cat to the silencer it's easier if you take off the NS rear wheel followed by the little plasic cover behind it.

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
You won't need different bolts, but I always like to use some nice stainless steel ones that are somewhat more resistant to corroding so they are easier to remove at a later date!Dark Knight wrote:Andy I think exhaust is just standard will I need different bolts?

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
DK standard bolts are fine mate, just a pig to get off as you may have to hacksaw them off if heat doesn't work. Buy some decent replacement bolts (the 1.5"ones) from some one like Mike Satur and it makes it a doddle in the future. I can take my cat off in 4mins now. It took me and a friend a couple of hours to remove the standard nuts
