Superchips & secret mods!
Afternoon all,
Has anyone heard any reports on Superchipped MGF's?
I had my previous car (fiesta si) chipped and it made a remarkable difference just wondered if anyone has done it?
Cheers

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
Actually, the power gains are very small for both F and TF when chipping. This is because the MEMS systems on both were designed to remap automatically with any changes made to fuel delivery, air flow, etc.
For a real difference, you need to be looking at a replacement or piggyback system such as Emerald. A very impressive bit of kit and designed by 'K' Series experts and also actually programmable from your laptop! Full details can be found here.

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
Theres a great article in the MGOC magazine that I'll bring along tomorrow - if I can find the right one and dig it out.
But to be honest the best performance increase you'll get out of yours is by ditching the original air intake system, the mk1 F system sucks..(or actually it doesnt and that's the problem!). Ditch it, get rid of the resonance box and bang in a cold air induction kit, this has been proved time and again to add between 8 - 15 bhp, for a lot less than rechipping the engine.

what he (Nick) said!
Actually the combination of that with the 52mm throtle body means you should definatly gain some good Bhp...... Just add a nice straight through exhaust and you sould be feeling a massive difference

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
I might have a very nice unused, as new straight through exhaust for sale. It will be at a premium though..... If you want it, then send me a message with your offers! It is for TF fitment, but is easily fitted to an F by getting a 90 degree bend made for it, or buying one off the shelf from mike satur for about £30.
I've been spending too much money on my car this week, so might have to sell my TT mk3 to get some cash back. But only for the right price....

Dark Knight wrote:selling the MK3 TT are you feeling ok?
No, I'm not feeling ok, but this week is costing me a fortune! With all the bits that need doing after my MGs On Track day, I have a very special one-off hood that I should be getting on Sunday, I'm picking up my AP callipers on Friday, I need to order my fancy new discs/pads, and tomorrow evening I am picking up the mother of all mods!!!! All in all I'm spending about £1400 over the next few days, and that's on top of repairs to the LR after I broke it last week when I went off-roading, and the new cooling system/wheel bearings/tie bar bushes etc. that i had done at the MGFC a few weeks ago! My bank account is now officially empty!
To make it worse, the MOT runs out in a couple of weeks time, and I know I need 2 new headlights, as the glass has gone milky and so it will fail on that, and also my car tax is due at the end of the month....
So, the TT MK3 'could' be for sale if someone offers me the right price.....

Cheers Nick that will be interesting reading!
I have the 52mm TB which I'm planning on fitting Saturday, and if I am lucky I will win the Taipan cold air induction kit on sunday and then all I need is the exhaust!

Very tempting Stew - However my heart lies with the Scorpion duel pipe! I even know they have one in stock at the MGF Centre..... and anyway......it would make you cry everytime you turned up to a meet and saw/heard it on someone elses car!!!

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
Those tail pipes just clamp onto the ends. I actually picked up a couple of the clamps yesterday for Andy Knott to fit his, as I didn't bring them back with me the other week. I'm wondering if the size is right for them to just be clamped onto the TT..... Mmmmm now there's an idea. Might have to try it out with Andy on Friday! The looks of the Scorpion, with the awesome noise of the TT!

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
Aah, I wish! But it isn't performance related!
I really want to fit it in time for the next pub meeting, but it is probably quite a big job so will have to see.

Haven't seen him on .org for ages. Wasn't sure if he was still around. Oh well, I'm not sure he will ever sell them, always changing his mind about selling his parts.

I saw them lambo door hinges on ebay as well! someone might have made him an offer he couldn't refused and pulled the bid!
Stew - does this mother of all mods need painting???

Re: Superchips & secret mods!
I know Mike is looking at that exhaust as well, so if he doesnt pick up a bargain Daytona at Stoneleigh, he'll be down the MGF centre as well!
There'll be more Scorpions in the SMS than there are standard exhausts at this rate
