Re: Pub Meet in Bucks - 21st September 2008
Could I suggest 21st? It's looking like the only weekend we'll be available! We're at BritCars on 7th, in Jersey at the Airshow on 14th and at another airshow on 28th!

The 21st best suits me too.
I think The Old Queens Head would make a good venue, the car park is a reasonable size
http://www.oldqueensheadpenn.co.uk/index.php
The only negative point is that is only 10 minutes away from me, so not much of drive

I had a look at their website too. I was a little put off by the comparative cost of the food on their menu. However, Kate & I don't often eat at pub meetings!
Are there any good pubs around the West Wycombe area. We could combine it with a trip to the Hellfire caves!

Pub meeting in Bucks September 2008
Jenny & I seem fated not to get to a Club meeting this year! We had every intention of coming along last Sunday, but our first grandson decided to put in an appearance that weekend, so he naturally took priority.
The next meeting is planned for 21st September and we will be at the Goodwood Revival weekend. Ah well, lets hope we can make it for October.
Hope you have a good September meeting
Cheers
David & Jenny

West Wycombe is rubbish for parking (just the garden centre for the caves). The nearest locations are Saunderton, Bradenham, Bledlow Ridge and Piddington. I'm not sure what the Pubs are like around there, so I would have to do a reccy

Go for it! I haven't been to the area for ages. I used to live in Chinnor!Matto 180 wrote:The nearest locations are Saunderton, Bradenham, Bledlow Ridge and Piddington. I'm not sure what the Pubs are like around there, so I would to do a reccy

Re: Pub Meet in Bucks - 21st September 2008
Just trying to think of what there is round that area. You could check out The Lions of Bledlow. Haven't been there for about 10 years, but used to be very good. Some really nice roads round there as well. Those that joined me on the Oxon/Bucks convoy for the meet at Great Kimble enjoyed some of those roads as we almost went passed that pub.
Other option would be to look round the Hughenden Valley area. I seem to remember a pub at Bryants Bottom which was very nice, but not sure what the parking was like.
Once Britball is out the way, I'm happy to come join you to try a few out! I need to go and visit my mother anyway!

I like the Crown a lot - used to stagger home from there on a very regular basis when I lived there!

Right then, I've just come back from The Crown, in Penn and I think it would be perfect for our Bucks meet. It has a HUGH car park, so plenty of room for us all (and hopefully some more guests ). There are great views across to Penn Woods, that nestle on top of the Chilterns. The pub offers a good selection of food too. It is also just down the road from Slade's Garage, which always has classic cars for sale and features period signage (including MG), so good for photos too.
Plus Ally likes it, so it must be good!
