Fitting a daytona

I've just ordered the finishers for the daytona ( at full price from Mike satur ), can anyone give me and idea of what else I should get in before I try and tackle the job at the weekend???

Also where the best place to get them from?

A 'Matt Parker' is a handy thing to have on these occasions but I believe they are out of stock at the moment, so you'll need the online virtual model instead...

What you want to make sure you have is atleast 1 exhaust gasket for the cat pipe, I say atleast incase for some reason you need to remove the cat from the flexi downpipe. Exhaust assembly/repair paste/sealer to aid the gasket if needbe. WD40 to soak all of the exhaust fixing bolts and rubbers, leave to soak for a good while for full penitration(as theres nothing better than full peni) Tools which is fairly obvious so vehicle jack, axel stands, selection of spanners and sockets(13mm 15mm 17mm) , a screw driver or pri bar and the most important, a hammer as you are a man and you will need to give something a rather good smack at some point

The gasket and paste can be bought from any local vehicle spare store, and if you don't have the required tools(which Im sure you should have) they should sell those too.

If you somehow fail on this mission that you choose to accept your vehicle will self destruct within 5 minutes

Do they (Mike Satur I think) still do the 'cat saver' nuts. Are they worth considering?

Cat savers are a god send, I got them on mine, it takes 5 mins to swap cat over with de-cat pipe, I would heartily recommend you get some B&G do them as well.

Thats good to know. When/if I ever have to replace the exhaust on mine I'll be investing in some.

yup put me down for a set of cat saver nuts too, Ben you just need to work out what size and thread etc they are....

Well they are 19mm stainless hex bar, cut to about 30mm length with an m10 thread 3/4 the way in.

You will be wanting to make sets of 6 nuts idealy and you will get quite afew sales

I could make them but i doubt it would be any cheaper than Mike Satur unless i'm making hundreds.

That said if you could live with mild steel BZP i could get the cost down to around £10 per set.

Mild steal will be fine as the main ideal of the cat saver nuts is to have a deep nut with only one entry hole as this way corrosion can not get into the nut and corrode(fuse) the thread of the bolt/stud which is the main enemy here

Reet, have had a rummage downstairs in the factory & biggest hex i have is 17mm (or 11/16" if you like it in old money) (& before someone protests they aren't exactly the same i have both) Anywho i'll twist the machinists arm moday & get onto the platers & i'll knock a batch up. Not sure on cost but i'll only charge what it costs me so it'll be less than £10

When I got home the finishers where there , I'm not sure if the exhaust or the finishers is correct. The finisher will just about with a lot of persausion fit inside the exhaust pipe. I thought they normally clamped on. It's also got piper on it????

Piper make the exhausts for MS, the fitting I don't know about though.

That finisher is designed to go over the exhaust pipe, as you see the finisher pipe has the slits in it, those are to allow you to compress the pipe smaller when using a clamp around it. To me they are incorrect as in the fitment(bore size too small) and also they look abit long.

Measure the length of your standard exhaust pipe from where it comes out of the box to the edge of the bumper where the exhaust tip is, then measure the length of the new box outlet pipe and the toatl length of the exhast finisher pipe, then minus 2" for the sleave of the exhaust finisher.

Well it's all fitted, I tried for about and hour this morning and gave up as I dont have a angle grinder.

Took it down the local garage and after much swearing 1 1/2 hours later it was fitted. For metal that rusts so completly it was bloody hard, in the end they had to cut the nuts of with a torch.

It sounds good , now all I have to do is find the right finishers.

Well I have just made a housing for an Electronic Race Dash for a friends metro, got the hard part next of figuring out how to make up the rear link harness/circuit board so it can just plug straight into the car(need to attach wires onto a flexible printed circuit paper) least Ive done something lol

So Col do you have any finishers fitted at the moment or just the box with the 'half shoots'
