Failed my MOT today :(

Failed the MOT today , though fortunately it doesnt run out till the 14th so i should still make this weekend.

Failed on emmisions (which I failed on last year), I suspect it's cause it was cold, so I've chucked some cleaner in it and will hoope it's better after this weeks run.

The other fail was my number plates, apparently the 3D lettering isnt legal anymore , so I'll have to fit my originals for the test.

Apart from that it's a clean bill of health so lets hope the cleaner does the trick and it'll be back in on monday...

Got the Audis tax and MOT at the end of the month too

Bummer... That's a bit of bad luck.

Mine just managed to scrape through but that's probably because I drive up to Matt Parker's (Roger's son) garage in Wilnecote in Staffs which gets the cat nice and hot and the engine running at it's best. It's useful as he has his own collection of spare parts should they be needed. Also, he knows exactly when to hit the button when the emmisions have just fallen within acceptable limits! As for the plates, I stuck my cheap standard plates on in the garage car park. I bit of blue-tac and they stayed for the duration of the test, then got relegated to the boot!

So when is the re-test? Will you still have it for the weekend?

Well retest is on monday, I've chucked some cleaner in the tank and will take it for a blast on the monday ahead of the test, new plates being double side taped on front of the originals and hopefully it'll be good to go.

I should still be OK for Sunday as my MOT doesnt run out 'till the 14th (I always take it in a week or so early, gives me time to get anything done that's necessary).

Snap! A wise move, especially when you're relying on your car for dialy transport. I don't fancy taking the 'F to work as it's likely to bottom out on the way in and out of the car park!

Sorry to hear of your disappointment Nick. I thought you would have known to take the car for a blast before the tst because of the emmissions issue and therefore I didn't mention it

Oh I did give it a blast , dropped it off at 8:30, but it didnt get tested 'till the afternoon so I guess it'd cooled down too much...

That is an absolute bummer mate. I knew you would have known which is why I never mentioned it in the first place

Well it looks like some fuel additive and a nice drive at the weekend (as well as ragging it around this morning ) has paid off, My F now has a shiny new MOT and a set of boring number plates in the boot .

I wish I could say the same. Looks like I'm going back for my new MoT on 'Smudge' next Monday, when both of my crumbling trailing arm bushes have been replaced... Apparently this is a common problem on 45/ZS models. Still, the emissions were spot on and the only other advisory was one tyre that was slightly worn on the inner edge, but still legal for the moment.

Ditto the boring plates in the boot of the 'F... Got away with the 45 ones though...
