First drive at night, topless
Drove home last night. Finished very late (which seems to be a regular occurance nowadays), had the hood down the whole way.
2 points i noticed -
1) Felt a bit of a plank, driving in the dark with no hood,
2) unbridled sense of freedom, pitch black, no top, and just stars as a roof lining......
..........anybody else get this?????

Definitely! I've driven in the dark with the top down a few times and it's been a great experience. Summer nights are the best, providing it's not a typical british storm above you. But I do know what you mean. When it's dark, it's almost like the sky has got bigger!

hell yeh, summer night time hood down is the greatest, wierdly it's rather good on a cold dry night as well....maybe you'll be up to join in the Arctic Circle run next year, I had a blast this year.

As some of you know we did a cruise couple weeks ago, one of the highlights was to really see the stars at night.
In this brightly lit world of ours the stars (full night sky) are a rare sight. With the hood down and a cold night and a clear sky the magic begins.

That's the best bit driving back from the pub,top down and like you say stars in the sky it's great especially as you get into the summer evenings, just put the heater on the footwell if it gets chilly and you're away!

Re: First drive at night, topless
No it's not just you. It's really happening... At night, the air is charged with moisture (hence dew) and this entering the airflow to the engine has a similar effect to water injection, allbeit on a very small scale, by cooling the fuel.BlueStu wrote:some how the car seems to go better inthe dark aswell or maybe that's just me
Fog can have the same effect. My Montego Turbo used to gain about 5bhp when driving in it. Only problem is you can't see so far so have to drive slowly anyway!
And that's your science lesson for today!
