Rolling Road day?
I don't know about you guys, but I do wonder what impact the mods I've done have made to my car have had (assuming it was making the claimed 143BHP in the first place).
I reckon that TT exhaust has freed up some horses on Stewarts F as it goes a lot better than a standard Mpi when I follow him!
I know Mikes 20K miles F goes about the same as mine even though it doesnt have the same number of mods as my 80K F etc etc...
I was wondering ...
1) Does anyone know of a good 'local' rolling road they'd recommend
2) If we should organise it as an SMS event (with appropriate group discount)
3) If we should do a write up see if we can get an article in the MGOC or MGCC (as I believe they pay per page) and thereby earn some funds for the club.
I know it probably lacks some of the glamour of track days and stuff but thought it'd be fun. Should be good for some SMS banter as well

Re: Rolling Road day?
A fantastic idea and one that's been suggested before, so perhaps we should do something about it this time! I had been planning on arranging a trip over to PTP at some point in the early new year, but not sure if they have a rolling road of their own. Perhaps if anyone knows of another 'local' facility, we can arrange something soon.

I'm up for this too. Clifton Lane have just done a rebuild of the head gasket and cylinder liners on mine to try and cure the intermittent overheating that was getting (seperate thread to come)worse and I'd love to confirm the horses in the Trophy.
I did a search and found this http://www.rollingroadregister.com/
This link http://www.rollingroadregister.com/search-rolling-road-locations.php gives a couple in Northampton, Wellingborough and one in MK!

Re: Rolling Road day?
Dave, the second link you gave didn't give anything until I put a postcode in! But thanks anyway, as it's a very useful site.
Anyhow, I've heard of one or two of them, so perhaps we need to phone around for the best deal. They will probably need to know how many are likely to be attending so that they can work out a deal, and also work out whether it's worth them devoting a day to a group, especially as we would probably want a Saturday. On these grounds, can we start a list of people involved in (a) attending and (b) taking part (please give car details). Once we have a few names, I'll do some phoning around.
Rich.

Re: Rolling Road day?
Would definatly be intrested at what mine is running at would have hoped with such low mileage it would be close to the 157 standard! But we all know there is alot of variation on these engines!
however it is all going to come don to how much it costs!

The last RR I went on was £30 per head and there was less than a dozen people there. The cost usually comes afterwards with a remap because some horses have escaped
These are about £300

Re: Rolling Road day?
sounds like a brilliant idea - count me in! I havent made any mods to my engine so it would be good just to find out what it produces!

Re: Rolling Road day?
It'll be a cheap |RR session only for me, I wont incur much cost as my old Mems 1.9 cant have much done to it, I think it's one step up from points and a condenser!

Re: Rolling Road day?
I've received a text from Stewart (who apologised for not posting directly but is unable to at the moment) saying that Nick Holland and Neil Mattock are arranging a Rolling Road Day at Janspeed for the Spring (not sure if it's a Zed Register organised thing).
However, as they are based in Salisbury I will still get details from the ones DaveD has suggested as either an alternative or in addition to the Janspeed day. This way, we can hopefully cater for all members interested and will spend more time on the rolling road and less on the road to get there!

It had '120bhp' (dubious) when new,its now 13yrs old (shortly) i fear my all my horses may have escaped!!!

Re: Rolling Road day?
Don't be so down on your vessel cap'n! You've got a good car there and now you have a virtually straight-through exhaust, you may see some interesting results. If they are low, use it as a baseline to work from...

Re: Rolling Road day?
I could be up for this, it just depends on when. January 6th to 16th I'm at a trade show in Harrogate and then a week and a half later I'm doing the same in Birmingham.
If it's after 6th February then I should be free. Be interested to see how another RR compares to the one in Scotland that my car was on a few weeks back.

This is one of the events that we are looking at for the Zed Register. Nick has some good contacts at Janspeed but is going to wait until early next year to organised something for early spring.
I would like to go to PTP at some point if that's still an option...

Re: Rolling Road day?
It's all a bit quiet on here at the moment so thought I'd dig this old thread up. I'm still really up for this, I'm thinking some time in April? (my bonus is paid then so I'll be able to afford any repairs!).
If you guys still fancy doing this I'll start getting an idea of costs & locations.
I'm hoping all that money on throttle bodies and induction kits wasnt wasted

Re: Rolling Road day?
I'm still interested but all depends on cost and when........
would be interested to find out what it's running, because since i had the gaskets changed and engine rebuilt its much more responsive.....

Re: Rolling Road day?
Mines a 97 on a P plate too! just ticked over to 80K last night on the Artic circle run so it'll be interesting to see how many ponies have bolted ....I'd never sell it though, I'd just have to spend more to get it up to scratch

Re: Rolling Road day?
Sounds interesting, a trip to janspeed would be great, esp as i have a janspeed xpower catback!
There is also a place in Marlow the local clubs use called motorworx, i could get in touch, but i think its the same sort of price, £30 ish.
Does going on the rollers damage your car at all? or put undue strain on clutches/gearboxes?
