weird water temp readings.

Driving home tonight my water temp gauge seems to have a mind of its own. Its sitting 3/4 of the way down, when normally it sits one mark below halfway.
Giving it some italian style driving, the temp needle dropped down to bottom then bounced straight back upto halfway, continued doing this everytime i drove high into the rev band.

Any ideas??

not sure mate....but be grateful it's not in the red!!!......could just be a dirty connection??......apart from that is it running ok??

seems to be running ok, heater is giving out hot air, idles ok and the pick up is good as is the drive, so im unsure if its an airlock or if the sensor is shot.

My money is on dirty connection or sensor.....if its fine and blowing hot air prob not airlock

Almost without shadow of a doubt it's the sensor. I've seen this before and the sensors are known to be weak. A straight swap and my money is on a reliable temp gauge!
