Re: MGs in the Park - 7th June 2009
Any more takers for this event? After all, everyone likes a day at the zoo... with the added attraction of loads of MGs!!!!

Hi Mike, if the weather is dry I'm going (complete with Zed Register flag). Can we leave it to Friday to see how the weather looks?

I thought you were having an official Zed Reg stand there! If not, perhaps we can all park together and the flag can go up next to our banner!Matto 180 wrote:... if the weather is dry I'm going (complete with Zed Register flag). Can we leave it to Friday to see how the weather looks?
We don't seem to have as many signing up this year. It's a great day and the hint of rain should have been and gone by Sunday so we can all go and enjoy the zoo...

I hope to be attending, dependant on a couple of factors:-
1) that the F passes her MOT today or is fixed if she fails on anything (I'm a bit suss about the bushes at the moment).
2) If the weather is OK Karen and th kids will come along, Otherwise I'll probably be on my own.

Nick, I've added you as a potential Northants convoy attendee as I know you like to drive all over the place before you even start on your way to the event! If you would prefer to make your way there directly, let me know. We won't bother putting up the gazebo at this one, just the banner...

Dave, their website says:

I'll add you to the list!Cotswold Wildlife Park wrote:
Dogs may be brought into the Park provided that they are kept on a lead and under control at all times. However, dogs may not be taken into the Bat Belfry, Reptile House, Children's Farmyard and any areas with free ranging animals.
We would appreciate it if you would clean up after your pet. Ask at the pay desk for a bag.

Great Rich, I just found that too!
However, the weather forecast has changed. It is not now to rain on Friday but heavy rain is forecast for Sunday with maximum temp of 9 degrees Centigrade
It looks as if Burford is right on the cusp of the rain belt so might get away with it.
Therefore even though I am on the list, I might not go!

Yes, looks ok for us for this one.
Have been busy busy busy since returning ( 4 AM) from the Holland Octagon rally. Wonderful scenery/hospitality.
Had the 'F' checked out before going but would'nt you know it? trouble. Must have run over a large nail/spike as on leaving Folkstone over night noticed a flat spot sound from a tyre. ( nothing apparent) Next morning just before 500 K's of the run tyre flat and steel rib broken. So, two new tyre's later off we go. 100K's down the road more trouble, using water one litre every 100K's. Turns out the small bleed screw top of the radiator had failed. Fortunately Adrian had a spare........
MG 'F's, who would have one of those.......must be mad. ( probably am) but don't you just love em?......
ps: carry a spare screw is my advice as they are plastic and get very hot attached as they are to a steel radiator. It will fail at some point but only when you are far from home!

Only if it is a really nice day. We lived very close to Burford and used to take the kids there 6 or 7 times every summer for ten years! So she has seen enough of it really. I am only going to see you guys and others and the cars.
Cheers

So is everyone still going dispite the threat of rain? Can I just ask that if you decide to give it a miss, you say so here? It's just so that we know who is going to be at the starting point. cheers.

Re: MGs in the Park - 7th June 2009
Mikes rad bleed screw failed suddenly, he was lucky he caught it as the car was going in to the garage for his new exhaust and it was spotted on the ramps.daved wrote: Sorry to hear of your trouble Dave. One tyre flat so two new tyres later??

I ended up fitting the Mike satur bleed screw (it's about £9). I nearly stripped the thread in the rad as it's only meant to be torqued to 8nm... apart from that it's a brilliant bit of kit that has a bleed valve in it to so you can bleed the system cleanly.

PS I'll probably go anyway unless it is chucking it down. There is nothing worse than starting in the rain
