21st May 2009
Possible change of venue as Billing Mill seems to be getting rather busy...
How about Overstone Lodge?

Re: 21st May 2009
I was thinking how nice it would be to be at Billing Mill in the summer. They have acres of outside seating available for those long light nights. The lodge is from memory quite a way out and not all that exciting a venue. There always seems to be seating available for our (at the moment) small group. We are happy however to go along with the majority on this.
As regards to 'A small group' We used to say 'It may be a small group but it is the right group'. Hope you like that!
Happy days.

Yeah, sorry. I did mean Overstone Manor! Well they are next to each other!Seb wrote:is that Overstone Manor? or is Overstone Lodge a completely different place?
Dave, it's only up the road really so not that much further to go. However, we may find somewhere better that that too. The big problem with Billing Mill is that it's so popular. We may well have the seating and in the summer we would definitely be outside, but the problem is with the parking. Nick had to queue for a space on Thursday! We could always use the car park that you drive through before you reach the bridge, as long as nobody minds the walk!
Input is always welcome...

Re: 21st May 2009
Ok, the final decision at least for this month is that we stay at Billing Mill. However, we have moved the time to 8.00pm.

Three more pubs for your consideration for Thursdays:
The 'Turmpike' on the Daventry RD. Cromwell Cottage Kislingbury. ( up market) The Brittannia on the Bedford rd.
Just a thought.

Re: 21st May 2009
Actually the Turnpike isnt a bad idea from my perspective as it's closer to Dav for me! and there's usually somewhere to sit.
The Cromwell cottage has gone OTT for my taste and its stupidly expensive as it's more of a restaurant nowadays.
I dont know much about the Brittania what's it like?

Re: 21st May 2009
Two of those three ar ex-customers of mine! I wouldn't recommend the Turnpike... service isn't so hot and I've seen the state of their kitchens! Cromwell Cottage on the other hand is rather a nice place and worth considering... at least it was when I put the games network in it. Britannia has been rather overdone and tends to attract boy-racers, but may be worth checking out for a regional meeting place. After all, it is a waterside pub again!
Anyhow, we're sticking with Billing Mill this month, so we can discuss the alternatives on Thursday...

Perhaps we could make this the first SmS Golfing Challenge and raise some money by taking bets on the winner... It might make it an interesting event after all...

Re: 21st May 2009
We've got a little bit of 'admin stuff' to do first, but we should be ok as long as there's no wind to blow the paperwork all over the place. I hope you'll be on time for that as we need to cover some brit-cars things...
