I ahve been ringing him - he never answers the bloody thing while he's working!
I'd drive round there - but its an hour away, and I'll be pretty hacked off if he's not there!

Ally - if its an hour away that means he wont get the car until 4ish, so doesnt leave much time to get it tested?
could you get it tested nearer home and get corin to do the work if it fails?

Rich / Stew - Looks like I won't be able to make the committee meeting tomorrow - could you please pass on my apologies. I have emailed Tim, but not sure if he picks them up at weekends.

Re: Spitting , fuming etc
Sorry to hear that Ally - I bet Corin is defo in the dog house now! There are a few places here in Northampton that are open on Saturdays for MOT testing if you fancy taking a trip over?
The garages I can think of that are open in Northampton are:
CMC - Tel 01604 718703 open till 12 usually?
Bodymek - Tel 01604 589179 (think they may even test on sundays)
and the usual IN n OUT Places (not sure of the numbers though).
It may be worth a shout if you want to go to the committee meeting?

Yes - it's going back there on Tuesday for two new track rod ends, and an engine cleaner treatment - although they think thats probably not going to do much and it will have to go on their diagnostics machine afterwards to see if it's a sensor. Going to get the top hose replaced while its in as well - I've got the hoses, and have no idea how to fit htem myself, so makes sense to get it done!

Re: Spitting , fuming etc
Thats good then at least Wriggly will be back on the road Tuesday evening and i take it they arent charging you for a retest?
I hate emissions!!! - It could end up being a new Cat? If it is dont buy one new as they cost a fortune, get one from a breakers yard!
What are the hoses for?

I think it's the lambda sensor meself - it has eaten two already, so seems that may be one to watch.
I've just gone cak through the old invoices, and it had both track rod ends replaced in April 06 - id it normal for them only to last two years?
Top hose went a while ago, and was bodged (which I dodnt realise til last week). My leak a few weeks ago turned out to be coming from where they'd spliced a bit of random hose to the original top hose. I bought a full set off Ebay, and was planning to replace the whole lot. Just going to get the dodgy one done though, to keep labour costs down! Don't really need it at the moment!!

Re: Spitting , fuming etc
It's eaten 2 lambda sensors already??? How come?
Yeah they can do if you live around streets with pot holes/speed bumps etc where they will take a hammering! Do you trust the garage?
Oh i see..... i my opinion any hose which relates to the coolant system is best to get fixed by a garage. I tried to replace the underpipes on the grape and could not bleed all the air out of the system when filling it back up! It's a nighmare unless you have the right bit of kit to do it!

Re: Spitting , fuming etc
actually Ally do you know at what mileage the Lambda sensors were changed in the past?
we could wok out the average mileage of a lambda sesor which would be good for others to know
Paul
