Re: storm cover or sunmate??
I have a sunmate and a full cover. The sunmate is fine for protection of the hood from birdsh!te, etc, but for full protection you definitely need a full cover. If you can guarantee perfect weather, the sunmate is handy for holidays as it folds into such a small package you can lose it in the boot somewhere, but it's not exactly what I'd call full protection from the elements.

well te car is garaged most of the time, to the main purpose of me getting the cover is when i take it to manchester for a weekend, and when i take it to france so i can just keep hood protected and also help stop my leaking windows too..

Ah, well that's where the sunmate will let you down. It only covers the top of the window and not the famous leaky spot... Go with the full cover...PaulMGTF160 wrote:...and also help stop my leaking windows too..

I stand corrected!dressur wrote:Oh no it doesn't!! it comes down to the bottom of the windows!!
I've got the original sunmate that fits at the back in the space around the boot like the tonneau cover and at the front with elastic loops round the door mirrors, with sides held down with suction cups on the door glass. But it only goes half way down the windscreen...
However, Mike satur renamed it to the hoodmate when he brought out the new silver cover.
My apologies... It was over 6 years ago when I got mine!
... but I'd still get the full cover...

Re: storm cover or sunmate??
We went back to NZ couple of years ago. Left the 'F' stored outside in commercial premises for six months with an F centre full storm cover.
The car was just fine and after the battery was connected again (left in the car) the F started pretty much first go but the storm cover was badly affected by the weather and although still of use looks just about knackered, thin and shabby. The paint work etc was fully protected however.

Re: storm cover or sunmate??
my sunmate has worked a treat since I got it and. Of just the sun it stops the hood getting dusty in garage and also stopped the frost over Christmas plus it was great for the howling wind and rain last night

Re: storm cover or sunmate??
Well after a serious battering by the awful storms last light, I found my cover had moved to rather a weird angle and was exposing my offside headlight and the splitter. No damage though and the rest of the car was absolutely fine. It's not an MGF Centre one but it's very similar and in my car's colours!
