I love the tomcat, beautiful looking cars. Might be worth having a chat with Puds as he had a VVC tomcat for a while. The newest are what 14 years old? I guess if you have the time / patience id go for it

See below, has usual rust at bottom of arches, getting pictures of how bad, needs an alternator, needs a MBC as the electronic one has failed, needs a new door card.
Got upgraded induction, not sure what, full stainless steel exhaust, black straights (I think), looks to be lowered to me aswell ??? New tyres.
What do you think??

Think that would be a great laugh, never driven one but I understand from a mate of mine that accelerating in a straight line is a challenge!!!

I had a Tahiti Blue one as a company car back in the 90s. It was pre VVC but was still loads of fun.
I almost bought one when I got the ZS but managed to remind myself I really needed a hatchback

Not quite there yet, but hopefully sort the deal out today, I was just checking, and what is crazy is that in a straight line the coupe turbo will out run an Escort Cossy (only just mind you) , but look at the price difference in those cars, can't be more different, strange how it works like this

Re: should i buy a 220 coupe turbo tomcat??
My dad has an engine out of one if anyone's interested in it. Nowt wrong with it. It was removed from his MGB GT conversion when the rest of the bodywork fell to bits! He's got everything that's needed to convert another one, including the five speed gearbox, wiring, etc. He only reminded me about it today...
Re: should i buy a 220 coupe turbo tomcat??
Ok got it, well not the above one as the guy was just not very forthcoming, every time I emailed there was another issue with the car, oil leaks, imobisllers issues.
Anyway, a FDH, turned up on my door step, and I bought it for 20 pounds more than the other one.
Not all that great though as it needs a new turbo, but worst it got caught it a hail storm and has dents on the bonnet and tailgate etc.
So I intend to just swap the boot and bonnet, (there on ebay now for peanuts), and then learn how to knock on the other dents on the wings etc.
But as its a FDH, and the coupe turbo has only 300 cars alive still and only a very small amount of those are FDH it is very rare and going to be a classic.

Unfortunately Lee, he hasn't got one! It was just a normally aspirated setup. Still quick though, as the non turbo 220s were...

If it's anything like my 620ti (which was a well-cared for example) it'll be a money pit...
