Don't muck about with turbos mate, get a new/exchange one from somewhere such as Euro's. Can guarantee the quality then.
If you want I'll bell them and use my trade discount for you?

Re: 1.8t turbo
Wow, there not cheap are they, plus time to fit one. Knowing you the turbo probably is going to cost more than the car
As Iain said, I have a habit of destroying turbos, and its always best to get the proper part as those cheapo ones just fail and you have to buy the real deal in the end.
I suppose you could try a recon place like http://www.midlandturbo.com
As far as you know, is that the last of the problems on the car?

Re: 1.8t turbo
As far as I know there is nothing else major, but I can't justify spending £600ish on a new turbo.
I've seen a few second hand ones for between £200/£300 I might go for one of them, they come with a 30 day warranty and I thoughts are if it's going to blow it will be in the first week or so.
I will find out on Monday is it is the Turbo, I knew i was going to have to do some engine work and had budgeted for it , but what I hadn't was for the bill I'm got/going to get for getting the engine started and moving the car about

Re: 1.8t turbo
well I've ordered a second hand turbo of Charles Trent breakers, they offer a full 12 month warranty on the turbo.
So touch wood it should be OK.
PS If it does blow up, you can all call me a even tighter wad than normal
