Nope, comes in raw steel (comes with three of the main pipes though), I have/am painting it with underseal waxoil before it goes back on.

Was your original tank fitted unpainted?
The tank on my late mk1 is painted, but in a very thin coat of black paint.
Early Mk1 tanks received thicker protection.

Couldn't tell you, as all thats left of the fuel tank is rust, but by that fact, I doubt it was painted, probably part of the Mk2 cost cutting exercises.

Sadly, you're probably correct.
I waxoyled the tank on my car when I did the complete underside, but doing so with the tank in position I cannot be sure how good a job I made of the top?
I just squirted what I thought was enough!

It lives....... just a few clips and things to tidy up and it will be back on the road, quite chuffed i managed to diagnose and fix the problem.
