Evening all, got back from work today to find I had afew deliveries and the main one was a box of plastic, not just any plastic though...







fitted them to the TF earlier whilst fitting the new alternator, got the other 2 sets to fit to dad's F and Fizzbot later

with regards to fitting, you do require 6 additional M5 nuts as the covers are designed to sit over the lamps retaining nuts and then be held in place, not by using the original lamp nuts, so it was a good job I found some in the garage

Not so sure that's how they meant them to be. Mine would never have gone on if I'd left the nuts on. The cover fits snugly over the light moulding and gives just enough thread on the studs for the nuts to get a reasonable grip. I think if they'd meant extra nuts to be used, they'd have supplied them.

Not always the case. If you look at the plinths you will see they have a flat surface inside about 6mm up which gives you clearance for the nuts.

Also if you design a cover to be held in place with the main lamp retaining nuts what happens to the lamp when you remove the cover to replace a bulb, it falls out the car and no manufacture will ever design anything that way

Actually, these parts are SAIC... They were only fitted to the LE500 and newer models. However, a good point raised and they were fitted to light units originally designed by MGR and without these covers in mind. I've looked at my standard lights and there's not enough thread for two nuts on them either!

Used Dad's camera as couldn't be botherd to get mine, I tried my phone and they were just pixels.

They are grey in colour which suit the TF boot, fitted set to dad's F earlier and they don't look as good in there, but fitted same way again with additional new nuts and no problems.
