Rear light cluster covers
So I just fitted a set of internal rear light cluster covers that i bought from Rimmer Brothers.
These really tidy up the boot space and conveniently cover up the wires and holders on my lexus rear clusters. A side benefit is the carpet doesnt flap around the boot near the light clusters anymore.
For £26 odd quid they've been well worth it. Feel free to have a butchers on Lee's Birthday bash

Re: Rear light cluster covers
I happen to know from a reliable source that these are the genuine articles, part no. ZUA000640. That's why there weren't that many available. It was Rimmers selling them, directly and through eBay, and they've run out. It was a laugh seeing the rush after the .org thread was pushing them!Matt Parker wrote:... these the genuine 2010 MG coves or an after market job?

Re: Rear light cluster covers
Nice way of tidying the mess of wires up, and to stop anything snagging if you actually use the boot! Do they fit really securely with your lexus-style lights Nick? Any drilling required?

Re: Rear light cluster covers
No drilling, no mess 5 minutes to fit, remove the nuts securing the lights, slam on the cover, then fit the nuts back, job done. There's plenty on eBay for £24 all in.

Re: Rear light cluster covers
For all of you who have these i just picked up a bag of M5 nuts as Nick needed a few & i understand you need to double up so the lights don't fall out when you change a bulb. I think thers about 50 in there i'll drop to Nick next week.

Re: Rear light cluster covers
I didn't bother with mine as it was hard enough to get enough thread anyway. Also, the lights seem to hold themselves in so I wasn't that worried. Thanks for the offer though. It may just help some people out!Benjs wrote:For all of you who have these i just picked up a bag of M5 nuts as Nick needed a few & i understand you need to double up so the lights don't fall out when you change a bulb. You do have to ask one question though... Why didn't they supply additional nuts with the kits, or at least instructions on how they should be fitted? Perhaps there was nobody around at the time who could translate the Chinese into English!

Re: Rear light cluster covers
Thought I had missed out too but I have managed to snag a set from Rimmers two days ago.
Fitted them with the old nut arangement. Not a lot of thred available and a bit of a fiddle
but with the aid of some blue tack on a screw driver got it to fit ok.
They really look the part and obviously should have been a factory requirement from the start. Lost count of the times I have knocked the lights out over ten years of ownership.

I stocked up on stainless fixings from Silverstone included a small tub of M5 washer 'top hat' nuts for all the cars
There will be a feature in Enjoying MG and MG Enthusiast coming up with fitting the lamps covers
