Leaking tyres!
I have noticed that I'm needing to put air in my tyres every week. Had a new rear one two weeks ago - and when I checked the pressures on Saturday - that one was on 22, the other was on 23 and the fronts were on 19 and 23. Thats a week after I had them all at 26(f)/28(r). Any idea what's going on here?

Re: Leaking tyres!
Could be that they are leaking round the rims. A common fault on the earlier alloys as the paint can flake a little which leads to the tyres not seating correctly. You may need to have the tyres off again to but a good way is to smear some fairy liquid round where the tyre meets the rim and see if any small bubbles appear.

Believe me - I've checked!! Don't think I'm overtightening the valve caps - I did wonder if it was the silly pressure monitor ones that i have on my tyres.

Judging by the state of the alloys - they have been kerbed quite regularly! Had a big problem with wheel wobble when I bought the car, and it turned out that whoever had balanced the wheels had just added more and more weights - there were 15 on one wheel - changing the tyres corrected the wobble, but I wonder if the wheels are knackered.

Re: Leaking tyres!
When I bought mine, I had a leaky tyre. I had the tyre taken off and they ran a wire brush on the rim where the tyre sits. That took off any loose paint. Then, the tyre was refitted and hey presto! Leak stopped. Note that it's the inner part of the rim, not the bit you can see...

Re: Leaking tyres!
As I keep having to remind people. Dodge Vipers didn't have MG logos in their stripes... And it's the last car I'd want to copy. It's more of the classic GT racer look. If you have a look at the races still held with the classics, you'll see Jags, Astons, Ferraris, Bentley, Fords (GT40), Shelbys etc. all with stripes. That's what Dodge copied!dressur wrote:how rude!! and from a wannabee Dodge Viper!!!
Now look what you're doing.... Encouraging me to take this off topic. I'll have to punish myself now. But haven't got time. Off out so will let you fight amongst yourselves...
