Annoyingly broke my radiator
So Last week Mike had a close call with his radiator bleed screw, basicaly it failed and he was lucky to catch it in time. After some discussion I thought I'd better get the uprated Mike Satur bleed screw...nice piece of kit I have to say.
Unfortunately like a dumba**s I cross threaded it ...I really didn't think I had, I was very cautious, but it's basically nadgered the radiator... So I have to figure out if I can get a TF rad ('cause it's ally) from my local scrappy and have a go at fitting it tomorrow as I really dont want to miss out on next weeks run.
Still I've been meaning to upgrade to OAT anyway, so a good flush out and attempt to bleed everything. Should be fun! - failing that my mechanic is less than a mile away so I may chuck some cash at him in hte week.
I might be in overdraft on my brownie points with my wife

Oh Nick! Bet your wishing you just thought "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but then again in his case prevention is better.
Hope you get it sorted

Silly boy!
If you're going to do the job properly, don't forget to have it vacuum filled. Then you'll know if there are any other weak points in the system. Also, it's the best way to ensure no airlocks - the fast way to HGF. I'm surprised yours wasn't OAT before...

Nope my old girl came with glycol and I've never changed it, so it'll probably work out OK in the end...really dont want to miss out on next weeks run.
If I can just get it running I'll get my mechanic to sort it, he's pretty good with bleeding them.

Bad luck Nick. Hope you get it sorted.
I know lots of people rave about vacuum filling, but none of my cars have ever been vacuum filled, and not had any probs with it. Just follow the process and bleed it properley and you'll be fine. In fact had a radiatior/coolant pipes the other week, done by MGF Centre, and they gave it a good flush and used oat, and then filled it the good old fashioned way and is absolutely fine.

Re: Annoyingly broke my radiator
Cheers for that Stewart that's kinda what I'm hoping....
However, I used a small amount of PTFE tape on the satur bleed screw and it appears to be water tight now. I've run the car for 30 minutes and not a drop has come out. So the big question, do I run it for a while and get the Rad next month when I can afford it, I have a coolant alarm fitted so if the level does drop I'll know.
So hopefully I'm on the road next weekend.

That should do the job for the time being. Reckon you will be ok to use it like that, and if the alarm goes off, then get the new rad!
