So i was changing a sidelight bulb yesterday, and i notice that there is a lot of muck, spray and general sticky mess around the engine bay - especially around the alternator/fanbelt.... having touched it, its not oily, so i rule that out, on closer inspection it turns out to be orangey colour..... OAT sort of colour..... oh no! my heart sinks, as i see one of my coolant hoses has dropped onto the fanbelt and been worn/melted away by the friction, thus the fanbelt has flung the leaking coolant around the engine bay. It hasnt gone right through, but it must be hissing out somewhere and theres a large gouge out of it. Checked my coolant levels and i lost just short of a litre.

Question is - i had my waterpump replaced in Nov, and i expect the hose hasnt been clipped back up out of the way when they put it back together, so do i take it back and say "look what you've done"? as its unlikely to unclip itself, however i cant ever prove it, and dont want to compromise the good relationship i have with them?

how much would i be lokking at to replace a piece of hose? is it easy? is this what dressur had done for £30?

Sounds like a similar job to what Ally had done, obviously being different cars will be a different coolant pipe, but should be easier on yours as the engine is easier to access

Ah shame, ally, i'd have been up for that!
i got my mechanic looking at it tomorrow, it survived the 140mile round trip to northampton and back yesterday, but i lost about 1/3 of a litre of coolant.
I am getting it fixed with my MOT next week.
