BritBall Run - 23rd-25th August 2008
Kathryn and I are getting sorted for this years Britball Run 2008. We have set up the website www.shaggy-roadster.com and also the Just Giving page has been created and can be accessed from there.
Hope you will all be able to support us!!!! (With money!)
The one bit of the site that isn't set up yet is the Blog, which will be online shortly.

Excellent, and a great website too. Good luck to you both. It's a very worthy cause you're raising money for too. I've been involved with raising funds for the Northants & Warks air ambulance and I know how much it costs to run the service on a daily basis, and almost entirely on donations. Hopefully, you'll reach the £1000 target and even exceed it!

Providing we are allowed to do so, I'm looking to arrange a convoy over to Gaydon to provide an SmS 'Send Off' party for our entrepid adventurers! If you're interested, please let me know. I'm going to have a collection (suggested minimum £5) for those who join, so we can hand over some cash at the start! Click here to add your name to the list.

Re: BritBall Run - 23rd-25th August 2008
That's a great idea Rich. There should be some interesting cars to see as well, I know there are at least 3 x lotus, 3 x Caterham 7, 2 x porsche, 1 x Ferrari 360 Modena. Some of the cars that are entered can be seen here http://www.britballrun.co.uk/site/cars/ . It doesn't show all of them, but gives some idea. Some teams enter in unusual vehicles like a Post Office van!
Also, could you send me the SMS logo, so I can add it in to the sponsors part of the site.

No probs Stewart, sent to your email...
Do you know if Gaydon will be charging for entry and if so, how much non-run entrants will have to pay?
Rich.

Not quite sure but I'll find out. I'm guessing it will be like when you and I have been there for meetings, ie turn up and park for free, but if you want to look round the museum then you'll have to pay! Have you seen Keith's post on F-Reg forum? He is on about people going for a breakfast somewhere near Gaydon after we have set off. Might be quite nice to look at joining him?

The SmS send off
To support Stewart and Kathryn, we're hoping to have a send-off gathering at Gaydon. If you wish to attend, we're asking for a donation to their chosen charity, the Berks/Oxon/Bucks Air Ambulance. The advised minimum we're looking for is £5. Please post below if you wish to be added to the list. Donations can be made straight away by visiting the justgiving page or you can pay Stewart or Kathryn wherever you see them before or at the event.
Attendees:
- Rich & Kate
- Seb
- Dave D (possibly)
- Ally (possibly)

Cracking choice of outfits - should look most impressive...
...on a practical note they should also allow the bank holiday weather to just run off you - with the roof in it's 'proper' position!
Hope it goes well.

Cheers Chris. For Kathryn's sake I hope it's not scorching hot as she will be in all black!

Well I'm disappointed on the take-up, or lack of it, for this meeting. Come on guys 'n' gals. This is a great cause and Stewart & Kathryn are already working hard on it, providing a most ingenious website to monitor their progress. I doubt if many of the other entrants are going to all this trouble...

If I am in the UK this weekend then I'm sure I will be able to help out - however I think I'm on my holibobs that week.
I will be happy to donate though, bring the boxes to the next meet!!

Cheers Dave. We are also on page 10, but you have to look carefully as it is a picture taken from the top of the Abingdon museum, and again I'm on page 20 with the glow car picture!

Stewart, have you got a time for your arrival at Gaydon? I'll contact Keith and arrange to meet up with him so we're there in good time.
Shame we haven't got any others coming from here. I honestly thought you would have attracted a small crowd for your departure on the run. I just hope that you'll still receive some donations from SmSers instead.

Re: BritBall Run - 23rd-25th August 2008
Cool, we have now got 50% of our fund raising target, and tomorrow I'm hoping that I will raise another big chunk of money at work.
Getting ourselves sorted for this is taking up quite a bit of my time, but we are getting there. I have a new 7" super duper DVD/Bluetooth/GPS/TV system that I am going to hopefully install tonight. Just waiting for the graphics to come through from Sean so I can put them on the car and the only part of our costumes we are missing is my white suit which is being made to measure up in scotland and hopefully will arrive in time!
The start point is Gaydon and we are getting there at 07.30. Registration and navigators briefing is at 08.00 and the first cars set off at 08.30.

Still not sure whether I shall be on my way up to Cheshire or not - but if I can , I will head over to wave a hanky.

Re: BritBall Run - 23rd-25th August 2008
Right then... It looks as though it's just me and Seb driving over first thing, with Dave D meeting us a bit later. Shame there weren't more of us, but thanks to those who have donated in their absence. And I suppose it is understandable as it is the last Bank Holiday of the year, except for Christmas!!!!
Seb, can you meet me at Sixfields cinema car park at about 8am?
