Dead TF Empty Dead TF

Post  cejsmith 26/4/2013, 5:46 am

My TF decided to throw a wobbly today on the M25, I've had to use it to go to work for the last couple of days and I've noticed that the temp gauge has gone up and down a bit , but I put it down to having a bit of a airlock.

Today though it went up and didn't come down !!! The cap blow and we had alot of stream. I managed to get it to work by stopping a few times and letting it cool down, it still starts and runs Ok but I think I have blown the head gasket now but hopefully not cooked the engine.

One thing though that did seem strange is I could have sworn that the water was boling in the heater matrix!!!!

I think it may be more than that as it has had three replacement caps and I don't think I can be that unlucky to get three duff caps.

The good captain has diagnosed the head gasket is certainly on the way out, so it will be interesting to see what they put in there when it was last replaced!!!!

well , we have replaced the headgasket, the thermosat, and now the radiator and i've bleed the system again, but the heater still isn't putting out any heat.

So it must be and airlock but any ideas on how to shift it?????

I'd drop all the coolant out and start again, fill the system slowly with all the bleed points open until you get a nice stream of coolant out of each. Then run up the engine at fast idle as I was doing the other day with the heaters on hot.
