Do you think you can sell it for the same amount?
I also seen on facebook that Russel still hasn't given up hope. I still think you have and out of sync BCU.

Has a hard-wire been done like I said to you from the EWS to the ECU?

The sparky managed to get the ecu powered with the replacement ECU , but he didn't know about replacing the ews unit, so when I go over to Martin's to discuss tommrrow I will bring that point up.
To be fair to the sparky , he sent many hours on it but when I had a chat with him, he admited it's getting harder and harder on modern cars to make them work if there is a problem. As he said he cant have every bit of diagnostic hardware, he would rather spend his time chasing broken wires and rebuilding dynamos!!!!

Re: Should I break it?
To be fair mate it sounds like it needs someone with Testbook, wiring diagrams & MGR software-I'm guessing Martin has it! I'll take off my invisible hat to him if he solves it
Otherwise I may be in the market for a 75 Connoisseur soon

You bugger, I knew you nicked a bit from the car, I could see the gleem in your eyes when you saw it

Re: Should I break it?
I don't think Martin has got a testbook at the moment. It was something his evil ex business partner ran off with. He has got standard diagnostics kit though which is a little more advanced than my pocket code reader!
Good luck with getting it sorted out eventually Mate. I reckon it's still worth persevering with as there really can't be too much wrong. It's just a very small needle in a very large haystack...

Re: Should I break it?
I would suggest Brown & Gammons but I've fallen out with them very recently-more to follow!
In the meantime-Colin I'm hopefully off to look at a 75 in Watford this weekend-it's a Connoisseur in Zircon Silver with Ash leather...only problem is that it's a 2.5 V6! Ok, lovely to drive but it'll munch fuel...
I still reckon a BCU which won't talk to the injection ECU-either that or a broken/corroded wire somewhere or a poor connection (fusebox?).

Hopefully assuming the car is still at Martins ( the w**ker of a delivery drive didn't get there to past 6.20 and wondered why no one was there!!!), he should be able to speak to the sparky and I think we may be able to sort it.
As for the bcu, i'm not sure as it appears that it doesn't actually do much apart from power the fuel pump once it's told to, I may get another one anyway. I just need to find out if it's a general unit or if each model had a different one.
I think half the problem is becuase it's a old Rover no one wants to spend anytime on it, as the sparky said to me yesterday "if I billed you for the time spent already it would be more than the car's worth!!!).
I assume B&G didn't fix the trophy but gave you a large bill??????

Re: Should I break it?
Martin seems to be getting on quite well with the car, it appears to have some corroded wires below the engine bay fuse box. The car still isn't firing but I think it will soon
But im in Martin's bad books though, he didn't like the fact that I had taken half of the car interior apart, lets just say I'm not the most ordered person

That's two MG mechanics you've pissed off by taking stuff apart
