Buy some!!
I just got to the petrol station, to find that I couldn't get the petrol cap off as the lock was frozen!!!
Charlie was consequently late for school, and I nearly broke my toe - kicking the wheel in a fit of temper!!
Was rescued by the guy behind the counter with a coffee cup full of boiling water!!

Other alternative is use a small amount of lubrication in the lock and this will mean you have the avoid deicing it full stop!
Actually i used to have a really good keyring that was a a heater to melt the ice in locks it was great for my first car as it was always outside!
