Ok so as I'm running out of things to do to my car!
I have changed the standard shiney indicator and wiper stalks for the Rover 800 stalks.
I think they are great and were a fairly easy thing to do, and add a touch of quality to the feel of the cabin.
I'm not sure if anyone else has been sad enough to do this, but I highly recommend it (if you have nothing better to do with your life) Wink

We need pics

I've heard of this mod on other forums and thought of doing it myself. Hasn't it got a variable wiper control that can't be used? That would have to be a project for me!

So how are the supercharge, nitrous, turbo and gull wing doors going?

HI Rich, I'll get some photo's done ponce I've shifted all the christmas pressies out of it!
Yup the variable wiper bit doesnt work, many have tried and failed, so it sounds like a good plan.
The stalks look identical to my old Discovery 300Tdi, I think the carriers should swap over, they'd be a lot easier to source than the 800 stalks.
Cant get insured on Nitrous and doing that to an 80k engine scares me a bit. As for the gullwing doors hell yeh! it's the 2 grand price tag that worries me though Laughing

The variable wiper control was the one thing that put me off fitting them. I hate having switches/controls that don't do anything. So I'd have to work out how to get them doing their thing before progressing the idea. I'll have to consult the old Rave discs for an electrical diagram...

I did think of trying the Maestro/Montego/Metro ones as they are far nicer than the Honda throwbacks too. I'm pretty sure that it was only the later Rover Metros that had black ones. After all, the F shared many parts with the Metro/R100 series so there's a good chance! The others were a greyish colour and wouldn't match the rest of the interior.

Might be worth having a chat with SF, as when I was at his house earlier this year, he showed me a second console he had, and had fitted some Freelander stalks to it, and was just working on the variable speed for the intermittent wipe. I know there are spare feeds coming through to there, as some have used them for changing one of the horn buttons for a starter button.

Nick - sounds like you have been busy boy! Will be good to see the pictures as i'm a little unsure what the 800 stalks look like. I can remember the old grey metro ones which Rich was on about! My mum had them in her E Reg MG Metro. That was the first car I ever drove and I can still remember the number plate! E122 JRP Exclamation Exclamation

Rich - Whats this 'Rave' thing all about? I can remember talking to the guy at x-part in Daventry when i ordered my new front fog light switch, but I thought i mis heard him:bum:
Do you think it will contain a diagram of the two different types of front fog switches, so i can finally fit the correct switch that works Question

A nice local car then... RP is a Northampton registered plate!

The Rave discs are CDR discs with the full MG Rover range workshop manuals on. They also have the handbooks, technicians charts, etc.

We'll talk later... Suspect Laughing

There isn't one... They were originally dealer CDs that were... err... backed up by a few people. Are you saying that you may possibly be interested in a backup of a backup? The later one doesn't like being 'backed up' but the earlier one, which just so happens to be the one with MGFs on it.... well, you know... Twisted Evil
