Stripes
I've finally taken the plunge and ordered my stripes!
May need someone to rein me in - am feeling almost irresistable urge to spray my wing mirrors silver, and buy MG logos for the doors!

Silver wing mirrors? It would look like a greyhound or an elephant with its ears sticking out

I prefer greyhound!!
I would be doing it to tie in the silver stripes - and possibly the MG logos
Oh God - listen to me!! Whats happened!!

To match the silve viper stripes! ( and to cover up the stone chips!)
It's not grey - it's charcoal- soon to be chavcoal!
My boss is trying to persuade me to have zebra stripes, blue ones - rather than viper ones - bit of free advertising for her. I've told her that I'll consider it if she considers paying the £200 a month it costs me in fuel just to get to work and backl!

Re: Stripes
Silver mirrors... bad! Mirrors aren't something you really want to enhance, especially MGF ones. You're better just respraying them to match the car colour.

Ok - you're all absolutely right about the ears!! but I LOVE the stripes! Mine will be a littel bit thinner though - I think!
I'm not having an MG logo on the bonnet though - everyone in Oxford will mistake me for Stewart!!
I KNOW I have to get rid of the indicators - and the sidelights - and as soon as I find some that aren't extortionate - I will!!
Thanks Rich

Re: Stripes
I like the orange indicators on colourless cars.
As I have said to Rich many times I don't think the cars are big enough for stripes
However modding is a personal thing so go for it Ally.
Cheers

Colourless!!!!!!!!!!!! How dare you!!!
I've gone for slightly thinner stripes for that very reason
I'm just excited that I have surpassed Nick and Max in the chav line up for less than a tenner!! Way to go before I reach the dizzying limits of Stewarts chav domination - but who knows what might happen next!
My father is threatening to disown me - First I buy a car that he thinks is completely unsuitable for a sensible mature woman, and then I go and put nasty stripes on it! Her hasn't been this disapproving since he picked me up from a party 17 years ago and I threw up in his toolbox! It's great!

"Toolbox" I could be very runde but as it is a family type forum and it was your Dad's, I will refrain

Re: Stripes
In my humble opinion, viper/shleby stripes belong on two cars. Oddly, a Viper or a Shelby!
And anyway, You lot can only dream of having a chav car. I have a Ford ST. So I'm about a million miles ahead in the chav stakes

Re: Stripes
Shame you picked the Shelby Cobra and not the Shelby Mustang. And have you noticed that both pics feature cheap white stripes and not quality silver ones?Stiff wrote:You lot can only dream of having a chav car. I have a Ford ST. So I'm about a million miles ahead in the chav stakes
Lotus have been doing it for years! And when you have a car that is a common colour, there's not really much else you can do to make it different, except for covering it in bling...daved wrote:As I have said to Rich many times I don't think the cars are big enough for stripes
So why didn't you go for asbo orange when you got the ST170 Stiff?

They're both american. Since when did the Yanks build a car that costs money?Rich Stone wrote:Shame you picked the Shelby Cobra and not the Shelby Mustang. Orange wasn't an option on the MK1 ST. The choices were blue, black, silver or grey.
Re: Stripes
Rich - While you guys are on about greyhounds, elephants, zebras and Chavs, it's reminded me to ask for that step by step of the D.I.Y Trophy headlamp conversion?
Can you send it please?
Ally - Think the car will look cool with the stripes!!! Just make sure you carry a pin to burst all thoise air bubbles!

There won't be any air bubbles - not in a Griffiths and Gau collaboration
