Event ideas and suggestions.
Hi peeps
I have been having a think along with someother SmS members about some events and outing ideas. This would not take over the regular monthly meets, it's just in addition.
I know we all like meeting up with the cars and going to pubs around the region, however we thought it would be an idea to have other fun things happening too in the evenings and weekends.
So far we have thought about -
Bowling
Murder Mystery Night
Towcester Races
Clay Pigeon Shooting
Golf (lol Dave!!)
Sports Day
Midnight meet & BBQ
Peterborough Dogs
Evening meets
A party in the summer at mine.
Canal boat weekend
Dublin weekend
Brighton weekend
Go Karting (being sorted at the mo)
Paintballing
Go Ape
Leeds Castle
The Zoo
Duxford
Museums
Shopping trip
Christmas markets
OR Skinny dipping by moonlight as Moira has just suggested!!
Welcome to other suggestions, so please add to the list and I will be more than happy to look into it.
I know these things cost money, and there is the time factor too, but I just thought it would be nice to do as a bit of a change for us.

HGF Club
We have felt rather left out of late.
Thought our HG would never go but an oil film in the expansion tank gave a clue as to impending failure.
Clifton Lane now confirm it is in the early stages of blowing. We can therefore join the ellustrious HGF club. Yippee...Have also been using a litre of oil now and then, apparently the F is loosing it ! through a couple of gaskets ( cam I think)
Need a new track rod and a brake calliper too. Bit costly but preventitive maintenance has always been the cheapest option I have found. Oh yes, need a head light too as ours is frosted up (2nd one now).
Overall our F has cost very little in the 8 years of ownership. Pretty cheap if you devide 8 into the money spent.!
Don,t however mention depreciation. Horrendous. Marcus I know bought his for £300 ...Oh no......

I had this on my list, but forgot to put it on here!
Go Karting is being sorted at the mo by Stewart I think. It's going to be at Daytona in MK, it's an outdoor track too....60min of racing c'mon!!!

Re: Event ideas and suggestions.
I thin we should be clear that these suggestions might not appeal to all. I don't see Moira running around a forest playing paintball but I may be wrong. Nevertheless, as such a large group now we must cater for all tastes and hobbies.
As such, specifically for the ladies I suggest a run to a large indoor shopping centre such as the Swindon Outlet Centre. There is also apparently a brilliant one at Sheffield we could hit by going through the Dales?
Also, a trip to the Christmas market at York or the National Railway Museum up there?
I also suggest Duxford, Leeds Castle?
Providing we go in our cars and not by coach, eh! Rich?

Re: Event ideas and suggestions.
The European Event of The Year (EEOY) is in Switzerland in August. About fifteen 'F's from the register are going ( and us) We are doing the Belgium weekend first in Mechelen then three days to Zug taking in the old Monte rally route on the Stelvio pass. Couple of others too.
Next year is Norway. Expensive of course but for us it will be annual holidays and no dearer than a cruise/ten day Geeek holiday etc. SMS could always tag onto the Welsh weekend coming up or such like. If we have a mind too?

Re: Event ideas and suggestions.
I think you got the wrong end of the stick here. This thread is for suggestions for events SmS can run. I don't think we'll be organising any events of that size quite yet...uk kiwis wrote:The European Event of The Year (EEOY) is in Switzerland in August. Some SmS people ARE tagging onto the Welsh weekend... Stewart has been promoting it for ages! A shame it's clashing with Brit-Cars as we've got the club stand there. Hopefully, there will be enough members left for it!uk kiwis wrote:Next year is Norway. Re: Event ideas and suggestions.
Sorry Rich.... I am gutted it's the same weekend, as I really would have liked to have done both, but with the MGF Register only having 2 runs this year and the Welsh Weekender is set to be v.good, I don't want to miss it.Rich Stone wrote:

Plus, for those that come, there is a special surprise..... Kathryn and I will not be coming in either of the F's....
(Rich, I know you know as you can read it in the F Reg committee area.... So, shhhhhh..... )
