ZS 220 1.8K 'Turbot'
As most people know the car I can't be bothered at this point in time to do spec and lots of pics, I just thought I'd post up what I have done today
Firstly last weekend in the nice weather I popped over the Lichfield in the car to collect an ebay winning, didn't really give the car any harsh use (no more than the general drive) got back home parked up walker round the back gardena nd then through the house to suddenly have panic set in 'smoke pooring out from the front of the car' so fearing it had just gone up in flames I ran through the house and opened the car ready to grab an extinguiser but as soon as I got to the front I had a large sigh of relief, it was just that my radiator decided to blow up spraying coolant everywhere over the hot engine
Took all week to get the correct replacement for it (I'm just fussy) so as today was free for me to do my own things for once I thought it would be best spent getting the ZS back on the road. As the rad was coming out I thought I may aswell sort out my blowing exhaust manifold gasket. Witht he manifold off it was clear to see why the gasket was blowing
but as I had the manifold off and the turbo was hanging around I thought I'd do something else, fitted a brand new Turbo and a brand new manifold that I had Zircotec treated
changed oil and filter and cleaned the plugs whist at it so now the ZS is back on the road, running sweeter than before and quieter too with no 'chuffing' blow also with the Zircotec treatment the engine bay temperature is reduced and the efficienty of the turbo slightly increased. so a good day for me, and all done and tidied up just as the rain started to fall, good timing

I love the fact you just had a spare zircotec'd turbo and manifold 'lying around'. That two piece manifold gasket looks interesting!
Nice work as always Matt glad it's back up and running even better than before.

Ok, how do you get 220bhp out of K turbo, I guess it has an emerald, bigger turbo????, strengthened internals??

Well it's not quite your 'average' set-up. Dont think there's anything left that's not been breathed on in some way...Sambomonkee wrote:Ok, how do you get 220bhp out of K turbo, I guess it has an emerald, bigger turbo????, strengthened internals??
Re: ZS 220 1.8K 'Turbot'
its basically a standard engine and turbo that I built from scratch out of all brand new parts
Running Emerald, raised boost to 11.8psi(emerald controlled) and raised fuel pressure.
You can get 205bhp out of a Z and F tuned ecu Turbo now if your wondering. Mark had to do afew tweeks to his Turbo maps after I took him out in my ZS

With an Emerald, new fuel system setup(pump, rail, regulator, lines) and some rolling road time.
But you are better off just having a good free flowing exhaust system, cold air fed filter and the Z and F remap to get close to 200bhp as that will be more reliable for you than straining the engine due the the extra weight of the ZT and being on the limit of engine output.
