PM Matt and he will give you the list, most of the stuff is fairly cheap, it getting the new loom sorted that need someone that knows what they are doing.

Re: MEMS3 upgrade ECU
To be honest, I would rather save up for an Emerald, but I guess even with that I would need a new loom.

Re: MEMS3 upgrade ECU
You've also got this MoT issue to deal with next year. At least with a MEMS3 conversion it looks like a factory original installation as long as the loom is tidily done. It would also cost a hell of a lot less than the Emerald route.

Re: MEMS3 upgrade ECU
Good point, is there much benefit to going to mems 3 though, I have all the normal mods, but will I notice much difference?
And will the 135 one be Ok on a VVC, or would I need to 160 ecu

You would need the TF160 or Trophy 160 ECU I'm afraid.
You might find the discussions on .org HERE. Just ignore the bitchy banter that's indispursed within the thread. Some people were having a bad day I think...

Are you sure Rich, I was under the impression the mems3 units where physically all the same , it was just the mapping that was different???Rich wrote:You would need the TF160 or Trophy 160 ECU I'm afraid.

Re: MEMS3 upgrade ECU
To get the best out of the 135 ECU you will need to fit the alloy inlet and 52mm throttle body and a pair of 135 camshafts which are fairly rare and when they come up for grabs they are no cheap as everyone wants them. Having the ECU alone on a standard 1.8 will run rough and lumpy.
What I did on my ZS for the first of the engine modifications was to make it a 135 spec but as I could get the camshafts I used a pair of VVC exhaust camshafts as they are a fairly close duration and suited the 135 ECU map.
Mems3 ECU's are basically identical and as what has been mentioned by Mark of ZandF is they just have an additional chip for certain models to help run the likes of the VVC solenoids, the Steptronic for the gearbox interface switch(kick down etc) and the Turbo for for the boost pressure sensor.
