I''ve booked for North Weald
OK so the North Weald Track day has opened up for MGOT, at £35 for MGCC members I reckon it's a bargain. I'm booked on and was wondering if anyone else fancies the day off on 24th July and travelling down there together.
I'm looking forward to a great day out, but I'm not going to go too mental as I dont fancy forking out for new bearings and tyres!
Add your name if interested

Seb,
The good thing about a fun day like this is you only push the car as hard as you want to, you have separate runs to other cars and get timed against yourself, it's all about honing your driving skills in a safe environment.
I have no intentions whatsoever of trashing my F after nearly 3 years of getting it to where I want it.
It'd be great if you came along anyway othewrwise it'll be a boring drive down there!
Cheers
Nick

Re: I've booked for North Weald
Well all back in one piece and what a great day it was . An excuse to drive like a nutter without getting points on your license.
I know know what it feels to spin an F at 73 mph (acording to the speed trap) drove the F down, ragged it and drove it back 200+ miles in total and she still runs like a dream.
I really would recommend it as a great idea, I was amazed how well i got around a 90 deg bend at just under 60 mph, they're a great little car.
The sprint course in the rain was brilliant it's about 1 minute of throttle steering oh and wheel spinning at 70mph as the power went down was top.
Bring on the rolling road tests, mines got to e putting out more than 143 bhp now.

Re: I've booked for North Weald
Sounds like you had a good time mate
Does "ragged it" mean the same as "trashing my F"? Which you had no intention of doing I may add

Re: I've booked for North Weald
Nope, ragging it as in 7K+ revs, hard braking etc etc
My wheel bearings, tyres brakes seem to have survived OK. My
rear tyres have been ready for replacement for some time, not due to tread, but the patterns wrong and they're nexens...great in the dry rubbish in the wet though. Toyo's getting ordered so they match up with the fronts.
I really would recommend it. I'm trying to persuade Karen to have a go next time

Re: I've booked for North Weald
Sounds like you enjoyed yourself Nick .
It is fun, would have been there if i could have got the time off,did it my ZR and had loads of fun!!
Dropping my Tf into clifton lane tommorrow to see if they can sort the kangaroo petrol embarrassing moments out (throttle/clutch related) would rather be spending hard earned pennies on mods eyed at silverstone(purposely didn't take cash/cards )
Did you buy anything in the mgf centre tent??
Stu.

Re: I've booked for North Weald
What a blast Nick
Looks like the most fun you can have with your clothes on as they say. Ha Ha.
Good to see large run off grass areas reducing any potential off's and damage.
The wet track would have made it more interesting I would have thought too and
less of a strain on car and tyres.
Could be tempted to join in some time!

Re: I've booked for North Weald
Excellent, you'll have a great day. My advice is to pack an electric compressor for inflating the tyres (they like you to get them to 50psi for the lefthander test) and you'll end up with jelly legs if you use a footpump...believe me
Hope you have a great day.

Re: I've booked for North Weald
I hate driving on high tyre pressures-makes the steering feel really vague...but they're the professionals so follow their advice I will.
Cheers for the tip Nick-I always keep a digital pressure gauge and footpump in the car, but will take my compressor...

Re: I've booked for North Weald
I know I thought the high tyre pressure was a wierd idea, but apparently if they are too soft on that part of the course, they can (and have) ripped off the rims of some cars ....so I happily did as they tpold me! It makes the drive to the pub interesting at lunchtime .
Have a great day and make sure you get some film of your 'laps'.

I've suggested to my other half she comes along and watches...she just so happens to have a reasonable camera.

Re: I've booked for North Weald
I'm gutted-I'm starting a new job next week and I bet I can't now get time off either for North Weald or my trip to Paris which also happens in mid February.
Damn, damn, damn!
