Anyone any ideas on cost of hardtop respray,i have seen on mgf centre price list a figure of £220 but this seems alot and i'm wondering if anybody knows of a local alternative any cheaper?

For a decent job, it probably wouldn't be that far off anywhere you go. You could always attempt to do it yourself, or at least get it prepared which may bring the cost down a little. Why not give Illusion Racepaint a call? They are our recommended paintshop and offer quite a quick turnaround too. Click here for details.

£220 is about right Stu i don't think you'll find it much cheaper elsewhere. unless you want to do it yourself, it just depends on if you have the time and patience!

oh and the tools to do it

Stu, my cousin has his own car business in Finedon. They specialise in restoring cars, MGs in particular and did the spraying on my Steptronic and my son's Trophy. I asked him how much for the hardtop and he quoted, with the window remaining in the top, £250 plus the paint of £50. He said it would be done in a day which included rub down, priming, painting baking etc.
