MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
Build no 006 - the last one to built - apparently
Full Krafthaus Panther/Cheetah Bodykit
Krafthaus ("KH") Front Splitter
Steve Palmer "SP Milltek" Supersport Exhaust - A bloody joy to listen too
Miltek Sports Cat
Mike Satur Interior Kit, Including Aluminium Heater/Dash Surround and Chrome Accessories
Full Leather Interior, Including Leather Armrest.
Roversport Spoiler
Chrome Grilles & Air Intakes
Chrome Door Handles
Chrome Radio Antenna.
Electric Roof - Rare £1500 extra on standard cars
Panasonic CD Change and Head Unit -£1000 extra on standard cars (It was '99!) (but its knackered and only plays from the centre, so now replaced it, unless I figure on how to fix it)
Uprated Suspension - little known about this as it has been replaced, possible the motor sport units, they not standard F and not trophy, so suppose that's all thats left.
Mike Satur "Ground Zero" speakers installed in T-bar.
Extra Speaker installed behind dash acting as a subwoofer option
Upgraded KYB Shock Absorbers all round supplied from Moto-build - another MG specialist. Full suspension replacement in 2008 at this time.
Slick shift mechanism on gearbox and linkage.
ULW Flywheel
AP Clutch
Scorpion 4-2-1 Stainless Steel Exhaust Manifold
Stainless Steel Under floor Coolant Pipes
Magnecor 8mm (Blue) HT Leads
52mm Alloy Throttle body
RamAir Nero Closed Air Induction Kit
17 " Momo GTR Alloys - Closer look to that of the equally rare MGF Cheetah, fitted using £120 adapters by Mike Satur. These are rare alloys in general, they are not standard fitment due to the odd PCD of the F, hence the adapters
New Locking Wheel Nuts by AutoGaurd.
Momo leather gearknob (taken from MGF Trophy)
Chrome Heater Dials
Remote boot lock (not wired)
Every job and receipt up until 2009, then a gap, until Jan 2012, and then full history from then again. Most importantly I have the actual proof of the fact that this is a panther as the orginal documenation matches VIN numbers.
MLS head gasket, its only failed once
Maybe ports matched?? as there is a receipt for head work.
Blue LED interier lights and possible dials, cant tell until dark.
White LED footwell lights.
Jobs todo
Mike Satur Boxer 1 Chrome roll hoops (when I can afford them) - There should hoops with it, but some git in the past removed them grrr.
By god, since i has electric roof, I am going to give it a good go at getting working again.
Alloy Wheel refurb
Paint the headlights black (trophy style)
Push Button starter
Apart from that no crazy graphics this time, just going to keep in subtle.

The sun is out, but the roof is still up... What are you doing?
Any pics of the interior and a close-up of the badge on the back?

Was wash it, the badge just says motorsport??? Think it relates to the company that did all the suspension and engine mods

Re: MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
I reckon those seats would have looked good in your TF... And equally, the grey alcantara would look good in the panther!
As for the electric roof, I wouldn't bother. More hassle than it's worth. My Trophy had one and removing it and putting back to a manual one was the first thing I did to it. I can tell you much more if you want... I know it's a panther standard item but they obviously didn't know how bad they were at the time!
Apart from that, a truly wonderful car to have in the collection. In the words of Mr Burns, "Keep it, never let it go..."

Re: MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
looks good mate, just need to sell one of your kidsand buy the supercharger kit
cejsmith- Registered user
Re: MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
Well, mattey who has the supercharged F said, I could have it for £3800...but its only running 190bhp, so will need to go to emerald to have the map put back to 220 or so.
Is it worth it though, I would have to buy the car and the transplant the engine into the panther, not a job I would fancy on my own.
So basically is 4000 for the supercharged version or 4000 for the DVA version (no work needed from me)....or...I did see a thread that Jon Norris need where he put a mini supercharger into an F.

Re: MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
Panthers new ice, is JVC DVD/CD player, with discreet/slim pioneer subwoofer mounted behind the passenger seat (was much arseing around to get that in I can tell you), now sounds like I'm front row of a concert, thanks to the sub and the up-rated speakers, just need to sort out some nice tweeters, and recommendations?
All for the pricely sum of £40 notes, just needs the faceplate tiding up bit, jobs a goodun.
PS, I would not want to be passenger in my car with volume turned up

Re: MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
I have now, been given "secret information" from the guy or designed the electric hood for the F, which means I now am confident that I can source the replacement parts to fix it.
I'm just amazed he got back to me, and told me where to get the parts that will fix it.

Re: MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
Which sub do you have, after market or the MG Rover optional extra slim sub kit? As thats what I have in my F and the ZS and it does work very well in giving the occupier of the passenger seat a good buzz

Re: MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
Im sure i put in the thread, but its the pioneer slim one, mounted behind the passenger. It could cause passengers in my car to have a "moment" should we say.Matt Parker wrote:Which sub do you have, after market or the MG Rover optional extra slim sub kit? Re: MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
It does work lol, was it the MG Rover commision one(plugs into iso harness) or an after market one going into pre-outs?
behind the seat in F as no clearance under it with the Sparco's and the ZS it is under the seat(although designed to go in boot) and pulsates the base well

Re: MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
I bolted a sub to the underside of the passenger seat in my ZS. Some passengers loved it
I still have the pair of speakers and the amp but the ZT doesn't seem to need it.

Re: MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
Well its not as easy has the instructions make out (its says splice it onto the 2 fattest wires, well the F has four , its like those films when your disarming a bomb) , took me hours of tracing the F wiring diagram to figure out the right wires to cut, even then I had many a problem getting it working due to the weird wiring in the F.
Anyway, I originally had the starter button light attached the lights loom, but thought that was daft, so I re-wired it to the interior lights so that when you open the door the start switch lights up and stays light until you hit the button. (I set it up so that the key will no longer start the car, you don't have to do this, but I did, as whats the point of the button then!)
Basically, its a bit of an arse, but now I know how to do it, I reckon, I could do it from start to scratch in a couple of hours.
The grin factor alone is enough, when you just hit the button and it fires up.
If anybody wants to know where I got the kit give me a shout, and can now fit it to a pre 2001 F, for pub lunch as payments.
The kit, comes, as Red button, black surround, Red button chrome, and Blue chrome, and blue black.

Re: MGF Panther - Sambomonkee
Hood goes up hood goes down, all on its on
Well when I put a car battery on the motor directly, could be a wiring or the ecu. Least the nasty bits all work. What i might do is bypass all the ecu rubbish and wire it direct to the switch.
