Mk2 VVC MGF
Just been offered a mk2 VVC in grey, like Nicks. Not much to say about it other that it starts Head gasket done, good wheels and tyres. Alternator pulley siezed though and a few body work scraps. Needs a new exhaust.
The reason I thought it might appeal is that its only 200 pounds.

Chris from the charity was looking for a cheap 'project' car and this could be it. I've texted him and I'll get back to you as soon as I know anything...
Please tell him to hold on to it for 48 hours!

Re: Mk2 VVC MGF
Photos below, needs a pump up, needs a grill, I have a spare on of those, roof in good condition, needs a clean.
History is that the garage guy got given the car last year when the hub fell off, slighy cracking the rear bumper, if fixed it and its sat there since, I chatted to him about it when he got it
It started first time and sound good no VVC rattle, head gasket done, the alternator pully seized when he tried it yesterday, so will need at least a new belt probably and alternator as well. I will have to cut the belt to drive it home, unless its sorted it self out.
But 200 notes you cant go wrong.
No log book you will have to apply for it, but the garage is genuine and the original owner I have met, well it was his uncles, so nothing dodgy about it.

Re: Mk2 VVC MGF
Hmmm... Well as I have a spare rear bumper and a Daytona quad exhaust sat here at home I could've got that on the road straight off....mind you when the Daytona quad goes on eBay for 50 quid more than that whole car!
If chris wants my spare rear bumper let me know and I'll ping it his way, it's LVD charcoal, not LQW anthracite, but it is a close match.

Have you got your old boot lid as the one this car still has the fittings for a trophy spolier, or chris could just get the spoiler

Thanks for that Lee. I'm in Birmingham most of today but off work tomorrow so could arrange something with you later for then.Sambomonkee wrote:Rich has gone for it, but if it falls through it will be sitting on my drive
Re: Mk2 VVC MGF
No rush Rich, I still need to find time to pick it up, most likely Wednesday. PS you may want to find or bring a pump with you as it will be a pig to get on a trailer with it being so low.
..or, do you mean pick it up Tuesday?? If so, assuming I get back in time after dentist, should be able to do it, subject the alternator belt issue.

Re: Mk2 VVC MGF
I was planning on driving it home... if its driveable! I can either book it in for an MoT locally which will cover it back or use Chris' trade plates. And Tuesday would be good if possible...Sambomonkee wrote:No rush Rich, I still need to find time to pick it up, most likely Wednesday. I have a suspension pump if needed, however I'm working away this week and won't be back till Weds night.

Re: Mk2 VVC MGF
Oh, Ok, but if the alternator stays seized you will not be going far, as the belt will have to be taken off or cut, so you would need a load of batteries to get you home.
I will see what I can do, may be a WD40 will sort it.
I will not be around Tuesday, but you can still pick it up, I'll either hide the keys or leave them with the wife.
Worst case you will have to pick it up from the garage. http://www.expresstyresandexhausts.co.uk/

Re: Mk2 VVC MGF
In the worst case, I can get it picked up by Autohome. I'll see what the state of play is when I get back this afternoon. Could you possibly PM me you mobile number? I appear to have lost it!
