Mazy needs an alloy
One again I seek guidance from the wise.
Mazy has just had her MOT and been told that she has a damaged Alloy
So the question is... does anyone know where I can get hold of just one alloy locally?
oh and its the 11 spoke versions

Failed MOT or Advisory?
If a failure, why don't you borrow one and then you will have more time to find a replacement?
16" with what tyre?
Matt will be along soon.

Re: Mazy needs an alloy
Yeah it was a failure
I had no idea I might be able to borrow one
The tyre is a 195 45 16 80x gds2
It would give me more time to get some cash together this side of the wedding.
oh... and the parking brake has too much play... been told it will most likely be a cable

Re: Mazy needs an alloy
In what way is it damaged? It was discovered that one of Ollie's wheels was slightly warped, but it doesn't seem to affect the handling at all (it's one of the back ones) so once another tyre was fitted, it passed the Mot straight after...

Re: Mazy needs an alloy
Could you not just put the spare on for the MOT and then swap them back afterwards ??

Re: Mazy needs an alloy
That will depend on whether Ali has a space saver wheel or a proper alloy, and then whether it's the right size tyre for a matching pair. I don't think the space saver get-you-home wheels are allowed for an MoT. Of course, she might have the dreaded can...Sambomonkee wrote:Could you not just put the spare on for the MOT and then swap them back afterwards ??

Re: Mazy needs an alloy
My Shadow chromes are black (Same black as the spare) on the inside and only shadow chrome on the outside, the sparkle silver has a silver inside as well as outer so I believe.#
I reckon an offer of £90 for this new one will get you it..

Re: Mazy needs an alloy
Well you have an MOT now which is good.
The tester may have just been abit picky as you can have a buckled wheel rim as long as it does not affect the seating of the tyre bead(rim) most likely you have a wheel that has been bumped on the inner face giving you a flat spot. This may be very minor(as in not noticeable until the wheel is spun) or it could be what I class as average where you can see the wheel has a flat section of rim and when spun it dips quite a bit, this is what I expect it to be as some people(testers) will pass and advise and others like everything to be perfect(not required for mot) and would fail it. Then you have badly distorted when you can clearly see that the bead rim of the tyre has a gap between itself and the wheel rim, this is a definite fail.
Your black spare wheel is a standard wheel and tyre but painted black(some are orange) and then they have a '80kph max' 'spare use only' yellow sticker on them so they can not be left on the car. This is mainly because they have a directional tyre fitted and you may have to fit the wheel onto the opposite side of the car that the tyre is fitted for. You can fit a 215/40 profile tyre onto it if you wanted
If you just want to get one replacement wheel and you find a pair for sale at a good price let me know as I would like 1 more 11 spoke and I can then get powder coated to match the 3 brand new ones I have that can then go on a car

Re: Mazy needs an alloy
Thanks for all the tips folks. I will get a piccy posted at the weekend
Matt, the wheel does indeed have a flat spot. The other half took it to pristine at Woburn and they spun it and said it could not be repaired. Strange though as I never felt a wobble when driving.
Looks like it will have to be a replacement.

Re: Mazy needs an alloy
Prestine couldn't do anything with it they repaired one of my aniversary rims when refurbing which was flat spotted and they said they can repair my spare set of light weight wheels too which are realy realy bad, so Im abit suprised they can't do anything for you, its got to be extremely bad then
