As Smudge is a 'senior' model, he doesn't have a temperature sensor so I thought I'd check out what's on the market. After seeing a mention of an excellent value for money gadget on .org I though I'd pop down to our local Lidl and get one of these...

Now installed with not too much hastle, I have to say it's quite impressive, especially as it only cost £3.99! A minor annoyance is that it doesn't light up, but I might be able to sort something out there. In the meantime, I'll have to see how it fares in our current climate...

Whilst fiddling with the dash, I finally stopped one of my blue LEDs which seemed to be doing it's own temperature sensing. Wierdly, the cold was making the mileage/trip display LED go off and it was only once the car had warmed up that it would suddenly spring to life. Sorted now and on all the time again. I also changed a couple of the LEDs back to white so the needles and red/orange markings on the dials can be seen in the dark again!

Good value Smile

I've found extremes in temperature affect readouts and controls too.

When it is over 30c the speedometer needle will stick on the ZS? Fine when cooler?
and blower fan resistors are more prone to failing in sub zero temperatures?.
