Re: Striping / Decals
Recieved this from the Decal guy
Hi Lee, yes considerably, if you had all the files at correct size in eps format I would do for £250 if I have to measure car and draw them all out then it would be £350,
Cheers Carl
What are eps format, and how would I go about doing them myself? Could Tony Knock them out based on the drawings we have so far?

Re: Striping / Decals
Eps format is vector based. That means that the sharpness of the design remains constant whatever size it's enlarged to. Unfortunately, there's quite a lot of work to produce them as they need to be drawn accurately from scratch, hence your contact's price hike for doing it. Although I know Tony can produce graphics in that way it might be rather a large project. I'll have to have a word with him and see what he thinks, unless he posts here first! We do have the advantage that the MG and XPower logos are already on file, as are the Southmids Sportsters stickers of course. The only other issue we we might have is the silver/white outlines. It would be far easier for Tony to reproduce the design in just the green and leave the car colour showing through where the outlines are.
Apologies for the delay in the side profile rework. I'll try and get it done this week for you. I know you're eager to get this sorted!

Re: Striping / Decals
I have the Xpower and MG logos in svg format so have passed them on (I will just buy the SMS email sticker later to go on the front). To be honest I reckon I will go with this guy as if he messes it up least I have some sort of recourse, unlike if it goes wrong with you guys, all I can do is break some legs
Really 350 isn't that bad for that amount of work (I do know him as my misuses is friends with his etc), so looking to get it done in December. Still looking for spoiler ideas though, people.

Re: Striping / Decals
I know it does not look extreme, but personally I would go with a Trophy spoiler,
Or, saw these on ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MGF-MGTF-Spoiler-/320786929371?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ab06416db
looks a bit higher than a Trophy one. Although may be just the angle the photo is taken from!

Re: Striping / Decals
Had that one on the F, its OK, but just felt a little cheap, and didn't quite work with the F.
It still like the ZS one, but its just alot of work to make fit etc. Now if I could just find the xpower cars ones that would be ideal.

Re: Striping / Decals
Right, my man, said he can design and supply the decals for 225 or fit for 350 pounds.
Now that's quite a bit of a saving if we do them ourselves (you see what I did there )
Is this something Lee could do (its going to be tricky with the two layers), obviously I will pay beers / food or what ever other gratuities people would require.

Re: Striping / Decals
Sorry it's taken so long to get something on here again, but not wishing to disappoint, here is an updated version...
This side graphic has been directly lifted from the XPower 500 with a slight change to the location of the XPower logo on the side. I think this looks a bit better and ties in with the boot design I did before.
As for the spoiler, if you still like the XS hatchback extreme one I reckon it's definitely worth a try if you can get your hands on a scruffy one that's not too expensive. Although the width is wrong, I dont think the angle is going to be such a problem...

Re: Striping / Decals
Thats cool, my graphics guy is coming over Tuesday to measure and draw, so I can now give him all of these photos to work off.
Nice one
Ps, there is a ZS spoiler on ebay for 20 pounds that needs tiny bits of repair, which is very tempting.

Simple!!, well the cutting is easy, get the angle grinder on it, job done, just putting it back together is the tricky thing

Re: Striping / Decals
Angle grinder is a little OTT. A fine hacksaw will do the job tidier. You'll just need to measure how much shorter it needs to be, mark the centre of the spoiler and take half of the difference from each side of the centre point. That way the remaining two parts will fit together perfectly. Once bonded together, smoothed and resprayed, you can hide your master creation with a giant xpower green stripe with Southmids Sportsters plastered along the whole width!!!!
Re: Striping / Decals
The funny thing, was that I was thinking of the Xpower decal all the way along the spoiler as well.
I'm going to the scrappy tomorrow, to see if they have one, as my scrappy is a proper old one where everything is a fiver

Re: Striping / Decals
Right the decals are going on, on Friday, with a few minor tweaks, but mainly based on Rich's design (Do you want to sign it when its on the car )
So Rich I need two sms web address logos, I thought grey (or was it white?) for the front to sit on the green, and I'm not sure what colour for the back.
I sure you mentioned colours on Saturday but I have completely forgot. Once you tell me the best colours I will order them through the shop.

Re: Striping / Decals
Are you having them done at home? I wouldn't mind having a peek and taking some pics. Might even catch the perfect angle for the last calendar pic! Also I need to measure up for the SmS stickers as this will be determined by the stripe location...
Re: Striping / Decals
My guy, Roo signs in brackley is doing it at his place on Friday morning. I have just signed the design off today, and the vinyl is in for cutting. Now I have seen how bright the xpower green is I got a little nervous, but I reckon it will look the business, its not going to be a car for the shy and retiring that's for sure.
Carl (roo signs) is also a photographer, do you want me to get him to take a few artistic pictures once he has done it?

Worst case then is, I take some Saturday morning and email them over to you straight away.
But I will ask Carl to do some tomorrow, and forward them on to you tomorrow.

I've been on here every 20 minutes to check on progress (your updates have been somewhat sparse) I think it's going to look stunning, a proper head turner .
