And I thought Trophys were rare!
On our way back from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight day at RAF Coningsby on Sunday, Lee and I stopped off at Hall's Garage in Morton (just up the road from Bourne in Lincs) to have a look at what was on the forecourt. Hall's Garage are a specialist MG restoration company and regularly advertise in the MG Owners' Club magazine. Anyhow, they had a selection of MGFs in various states which included TWO Trophys - One a completely standard red model (yes, all the red bits were still fitted inside) and a yellow Trophy that was obviously in for a HG as the view through the softtop window showed a gaping hole with a towel draped over the block! The most annoying thing about this car was that the owner had refurbed his genuine Trophy alloys to the exact colour mine are going! Isn't anything unique these days?
Oh, and the MGA in the showroom was rather nice... Priced at just over £23.5K!
Sorry... Didn't take any pics...
Oh, hang on... They're on the website HERE!

Never knew about Hall's.
My Mother in Law and Sister in Law have lived in and around Bourne for about 15 years so had loads of opportunity to go and look!
Must go and take a look next time I am up.
Did there also happen to be a B17 flying at Coningsby?
I did the MGOC Autumn Gold run which finished at the Glen Miller Museum at Twinwood Airfield near Bedford. As we sat having a coffee, an unexpected B17 did a low level fly past!
Could have been on its way back from Coningsby to somewhere.

No, strictly BBMF aircraft - Lancaster, two Hurricanes, Four Spitfires and the Dakota. Those who are friends with Lee on FB can see some pics and a couple of excellent vids from the day and I'll post a link to my photobucket pics when I get round to loading them up. The day is an exclusive event for members of the Lincolnshire Lancaster Association, of which I have been for over 10 years now, and Lee was our personal guest... and I think he needed a change of trousers after experiencing 10 Merlin engines roaring within a few hundred feet of us!StevePem wrote:Did there also happen to be a B17 flying at Coningsby?
Typhoons are based at Coningsby now, since the Tornados left, but unfortunately you can only see them flying during the week... unless there's a war on!
Funny you should mention that... I've been looking at doing an SmS run over to there. It's been a few years since I went over last. Hope you'll still join us!StevePem wrote:I did the MGOC Autumn Gold run which finished at the Glen Miller Museum at Twinwood Airfield near Bedford. Yes definitely worth a run over there. The only down side is the road between Clapham and Twinwood looks (and feels) like it has been used for bombing practice!
Being told by your navigator that you are going way too fast at sub 15 mph in 2nd gear is a bit disheartening!
Was the slowest convoy of MGs I have seen, made the M25 at rush hour look like a race track by comparison
