Re-mapping
Hi
Following conversations with Matt and Lee about re-mapping can I ask for contact details of places I can get it done please?
Also, I have a loose baffle inside my Daytona and Matt, you said you could fix it but I was to ask here for a date from you?
Cheers

Re: Re-mapping
Dave, this is where I'll be going shortly to finish off Smudge's target spec...
... and that's where Matt goes too. Also a few SmSers have been there already. I was thinking of doing a trip out to him (although there's nothing much to see) for an SmS outing as he does a group discount. Anyone else interested? I think we need 4 cars minimum...

Re: Re-mapping
I would like to get the ZS remapped but need to get the MoTs out of the way first (March TF and April ZS) in case there are any unexpected nasty expenditures! Also, may want to take the TT off and buy another exhaust.
Mark tends to go to a lot of MG events and does the tuning at the discounted £200 so I figure worst case is I may have to wait and do it ant MGLive or ZedTen.
I was also thinking of having the "pop burble" added to the remap I had on the TF but not convinced I want it yet.

Would def recommend Mark......he is a top bloke, he might come across to us if we asked him......did Steve's and mine at Rally Matt's place at near Silverstone

I agree, he probably would, but I was thinking of making it a run out!Lee121 wrote:Would def recommend Mark......he is a top bloke, he might come across to us if we asked him......did Steve's and mine at Rally Matt's place at near Silverstone

I hear what you are saying but I'd rather pay less for the remap than increase the price just for a run out Especially as use the Trophy every day anyway.
Who is Mark and what are his contact details please?
Cheers

Re: Re-mapping
Mark is the guy who runs ZandF-Tuning! Just click on the logo above and you can read all about him and his company. The run out wouldn't have been much as he's only in Banbury. Also, the discount would be better than the show price as he's not having to travel anywhere and doing several at once. But if three other cars don't want to go, I guess I'll have to think of an alternative for me too...

You could convert to mems3 Nick, its not that diffecult to do, then you can have a nice re-tune

Re: Re-mapping
That's interesting Matt, how easy is it? and more importantly how expensive????

Re: Re-mapping
Matt
I would be very interested to, it's got to be a lot cheap than going for a emerald.

Re: Re-mapping
All depends on cost of parts, whats needed for VVC to go from mems2J to mems3 is...
ECU, engine loom, small ecu (body) connector with section of loom, camshaft cover, VVC coil packs and leads, VVC upper plenum with MAP sensor and IACV, injectors(blue) with wiring loom (could just swap complete inlet if you wanted) lambda sensor. May need to replace camshaft sensor with a later (white body) one if the ecu does not see the sensor working (some early 2J sensors don't work with mems3)
Non VVC engines require abit more work to convert from mems1.9 to mems3 as you need to replace the camshafts due to the exhaust camshaft having the lobe for the camshaft sensor, along with the complete inlet manifold as it has the MAP sensor in the moulding of the plenum, and as above for the VVC.
If you have a late mk2 MGF like a 1999/2000 that's running mems1.9 there could be a chance you already have the correct camshafts with the extra lobe for the sensor pick up as you will have an EU3 cylinder head fitted with the auto tensioner and 26mm wide cambelt.

Re: Re-mapping
so ebay ahoy then...I guess I'll have to ask you about part numbers at the next meet then? if I source all that then it's a £200 odd quid trip to Z&F as well....that emerald is looking like the cheap simple option

Re: Re-mapping
Why is nothing ever simple, all I want is 200bhp for £200 whats so wrong with that
cejsmith- Registered user
Re: Re-mapping
forgot that you will also need the alternator, although you can retain your original and just swap the connector plugs for it.
200bhp for £200 is very simple, buy a T16 Turbo and make your own exhaust system, all for under £200
