Seems it's goodbye to the Streetwise...
...but under unfortunate circumstances
Most of you will be aware I've sold the car to my Dad; unfortunately he was involved in a "coming together" with a crash barrier in MK this afternoon thanks to an articulated lorry which then promptly drove off!!!
He was overtaking said lorry on one of many MK's dual carriageways when the lorry started "squeezing" him into the central reservation; it was either hit the lorry or the barrier.
Damage is a bent O/S/F wing, dented bonnet in the corner, severely cracked and disfigured bumper, damaged headlamp, foglamp & indicator, and (the killer) the slam panel has been bent around into the windscreen washer bottle. I've roughly priced it up and the parts alone are coming to £1,200 + VAT with trade discount...! So I reckon the insurers will write it off.
I'm gutted firstly for my Dad (thankfully he's OK), secondly because it was a nice, clean car which I've put a lot of time and effort into, only for it to be ruined by some kn*bhead trucker (and nearly injuring my Dad in the process!). I honestly hope he dies a painful, maggot ridden death alone in a ditch after being attacked by various wildlife.

Sorry to hear that, at least no one was injured.

That's a serious bummer, but at least there were no serious injuries.
Is it worth buying off the insurance company for breaking if they do write it off? The interior would look great in Kate's 25!
What's your dad going to drive now? Would he have another MGR after this one saved him? That's Kate's philosophy after a Rover 200 saved her from a lorry a few years back.

So sorry to hear about this, but glad your dad is OK, might be worth trying to get some CCTV of the truck driver and in any case report it to the police, it sounds like dangerous driving on the lorrys behalf..

Not worth buying it back unfortunately
He wants something a bit sporty and open top as he's retiring next year; I'm trying to persuade him an F/TF (possibly a project) would be a good idea lol.

Well being honest due to budget constraints I was looking at my next car being an F/TF anyway, was considering a tidy VVC with HGF or something that I can get cheap, work my magic on then use either that or splash a bit more as I was saying to Nick and get a Trophy! But that's the sort of thing again I wouldn't want to use everyday and put miles on, as it's a bit more special...so I'd have two "toys" and still the need for a daily driver!

Re: Seems it's goodbye to the Streetwise...
Had word from the repairers yesterday that the insurers have authorised the repair
Should be complete middle of January.

Nice one.
Thats two late model MGR's I know of recently that were expected to be written off and have been saved.

Now that is good news....is it now time to search for a VVC lump for it to turn it into a wolfs in sheeps clothing???

Not sure about that-it'd look like a giant lime!
And Lee-you, Matt, Rich & I would think that's awesome, my Dad probably less so when "VVC kicked in, yo" on the way to the shops
