Re: Steve's new wheels!
Very nice Steve. What engine is it? 120, 180 or oilburner? I'm guessing a 120 from the front bumper and wheels.
I assume you'll be bringing it to the Christmas meeting where I can adorn it with a lovely SmS sticker...
Added to the ZedTen list!

Re: Steve's new wheels!
Yes, definitely.
Do we have silver stickers? That would probably be the best colour I think.
Cheers

So was I right with the engine? You'll have to update your profile now...

Re: Steve's new wheels!
Hi Rich, sorry, yes it is a 120, done 67k nice and clean in and out. Will take some pics and post them once the weather is a bit better. Only area of concern is I checked service history and there is no record of a cambelt change being done so may do that as a precaution.
Cost me £1,450 which seemed like a resonable price - I went for the ZS as they seem to be generally cheaper than ZRs.
I was tempted by a really nice looking Tomcat but really I need a a decent load carrying hatchback as my other car so the Tomcat really was not the best option.
Cheers

Re: Steve's new wheels!
Hi Nick,
thanks, yes, MGs generally seem to be the cheapest thing on fouir wheels just now.
Funny you should mention the colour - you were the first person I thought of when I saw the car (wonder why?).
See you all on 17th
Cheers

Re: Steve's new wheels!
Happy days Steve, there's another ZS on here, finally
Cambelts on those are due every 6 years/90k (like the TF's I think...), they're pretty easy DIY (access is wonderful compared to the TF!!) as long as you've got the locking tool.

Rich,
Link to service sheet below, it's a copy of the one we use in the dealership:
http://www.rovermart.co.uk/ServInfo/R45petrolUK03.pdf
http://www.rovermart.co.uk/ServInfo/ZSpetrolUK03.pdf
Cambelt(s) on the 45/ZS are indicated to be replaced at the 'D' service which is every 6 years/90k miles. The earlier cars were every 60k, which is maybe where your sheet comes in?

Re: Steve's new wheels!
Hmmm. Interesting. Well I had mine sorted at 60k so I'm not worried now! Smudge was older than 6 years and I didn't get much of a history with him, so definitely for the best...

Re: Steve's new wheels!
I am getting mine done on Friday, there was no note in the service history (last service at 57k miles) of it ever being done and it is the kind of thing a non enthusiast is likely to ignore, not understanding the consequences, Whatever the miles the six years is definitely up so should have had one by now.
I was actually seriously looking at a very nice red V6 SR untill my man at BB motors gave me an insight into servicing costs - 120 bhp and cheap motoring will do fine by me! First ice surprise was only £99 for half a years tax.

Re: Steve's new wheels!
£99? How did you manage that? Mine is £112.50 and it's the same spec!
And don't worry about 120bhp. Easy to upgrade for not much dosh... Speak to Matt at the Christmas meeting and I'm sure he'll be able to help!

Re: Steve's new wheels!
I'll take you out in my Zed and make you wish you'd bought the V6...
I wouldn't fancy running one as a daily drive, granted; circa 25mpg average, possibly £400 p/a tax next year and a £600 cambelt service every six years still makes me think about buying a Civic Type R...but I just can't give it up, the damn thing has a hold on me (and my wallet), somehow.
Look forward to seeing your's at some point Steve.

Not really sure, I just took the change of ownership form etc to the Post office to tax it and they asked me for £99!Rich wrote:£99? How did you manage that? Mine is £112.50 and it's the same spec!

No, it is definitely an "off black" if you know what I mean but also not quite the same as Nick's. When I first saw it on a dark afternoon it looked decidedly charcoal but in better light it also has a hint of blue. Need to look up the colour code.

I will be there on 17th Dec and the Z will no doubt make it to the next few meets through the winter rather than the TF

I'm guessing it's anthracite (code LQW), a nice colour that it's called grey but actually is a very dark blue metalic, nice
Nick- Admin/Moderator
Re: Steve's new wheels!
It will be Anthracite (my ZS was the same colour). It's a very dark grey and in bright light you'll notice a blue fleck in the paint.
Anthracite was replaced by Pearl Black (the colour of my ZT) when the facelift models came out.

Re: Steve's new wheels!
I agree about the colour BTW, someone I used to know had a ZR in the same colour-it looks great when clean and changes around from grey, to black, to bluey

Re: Steve's new wheels!
Yeah, i knew someone with a ZR in anthracite. A very smart colour indeed. It's a shame we won't be able to see it properly at the Christmas meet as it's going to be dark and the car park lights are awful... Someone bring a big torch!

Re: Steve's new wheels!
Howdy, not a bad car
and who said about 'another ZS on here, finally' I seem to recall there is another ZS on here and has been for some time, think it was a silver one that may have a 1.8 Turbo in it
note on colour to people Charcoal was only available upto 1999 on MK1 MGF's only, all other dark grey(almost blacks) on all MG Rover models will be Anthracite
