Re: new screen needed
I've not fitted one, but they were at Stoneleigh showing the screens and how to fit them. They have also provisionally booked to come to MGFest on the 2nd August.
Other alternative is BAS International who were the original manufacturers of the hoods for MG-Rover - http://www.car-hood.co.uk/
BAS are fitting the sportster hood to my car a week on Saturday. I'm having a fancy one, with a special rear screen (altho the screen is going to be standard one when initially fitted as they are still working out how to do what I have asked for!). Probably best not to ask me the price, as it isn't a standard one! I have to go back to wales once they have figured out how to print the screen the way I want it...

Re: new screen needed
They look ok for the money. Obviosuly they are nothing like the sportster hood which is completely sealed, but otherwise they seem good value.

Hi Will
You could always give this a go, check this thread for a woman called Sonia
http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=176976&highlight=sonia+screen+repair
Might be ok if you don't want to pay too
Paul

Re: new screen needed
thanks paul
i saw that, but i thought for for the extra 50 quid it would be worth having the glass screen, as it wont crack, the visability is pretty much the same, plus i think it looks just as good if not better than the plastic screen (obviously people have different opinions) and it the hood still folds then thats a win win

but isnt the difference more than £50 now? I saw your post thats its gone up to 189 so thats now £75.
Also bear in mind a glass screen although clearer does restrict view out of the rear
Anyway, its up to you at least you have some options!
one last idea, just leave the hood down all the time!

Re: new screen needed
A few years back I needed a new rear screen, I opted for the plastic screen and got it done at some womans house near Heathrow. (This could be sonia but i cant remember her name) She used to work for an MG garage fixing the windows but as the company went bust she set up her own business on the side!
Unfortunately I havent got her number anymore but I was very impressed with the price and the job!
If Sonia is the same woman I would definitely recommend her!

Re: new screen needed
I had mine done back in 2004 by a guy in Bletchley, MK. It cost me £80 fitted and he used a different grade plastic to the original ones. It feels different to the original too and is still going strong. However, I think I would go for a glass one if mine ever went again, purely as it's great value for money. I wouldn't be particularly bothered about the slight restriction in the rear view, as just about all the time I'm driving, the hood is down!!!!

Re: new screen needed
thats what i thought. around £100 for a plastic one, which could go again or 189 for a glass one with the heated option, seemed like a no brainer, just need to fit it, aparently it comes with a dvd showing me and they will also send me several emails. should only take 2-3 hours tops according to them. but we shall see
