Re: 52mm throttle body
Just replied to you over on the MGF Register forum, but for the benefit of our members...
Mine ran perfectly without any adjustments... and there was a noticeable difference to throttle response. Not sure about any performance gains as it was fitted at the same time as my exhaust and air filter but the package definitely added some ponies!
I'm looking to put one on the 'Rover ZS' now as it's got a nasty plastic one on it...

Give Victoria at the MGF centre a bell, I paid £60 for my second hand one from her at the NAC show last year and have heard of others doing the same...they're around £110 new IIRC some of the ones on Ebay go for ridiculous money...that or try your friendly intapart stockist

There is that, and with the roof down in the spring you will be able to appreciate the new sound!

Re: 52mm throttle body
That's where mine came from. About the same price too and it had only been on an ex-works car so was virtually new! The new price is just daft so not worth considering. Hence Smudge hasn't got his yet!Nick wrote:Give Victoria at the MGF centre a bell, I paid £60 for my second hand one from her at the NAC show last year and have heard of others doing the same...they're around £110 new IIRC some of the ones on Ebay go for ridiculous money...that or try your friendly intapart stockist

Re: 52mm throttle body
Fitted mine on saturday as well, remarkable difference to throttle response and also a much smoother throttle pedal! Well worth replacing in my opinion!

Re: 52mm throttle body
Hi !
I see Nick has the 52mm throttle as 'polished'. Was it purchased that way or was it a dremmel job, and I guess does it help ?

( my 52mm in a box for 12 months now waiting on insurance renew date )

Re: 52mm throttle body
Hi Kevin,
Yup I polished mine before fitting as I'd read a few people on .org had done the same. Did mine with a dremell and some wet 'n'dry, I've left the grub screws on the butterfly untouched.
TBH I dont think polishing it makes much difference, but I bought it 2nd hand and it needed tidying up anyway.
I think you only gain about 1bhp with a 52mm TB, but it does make the pick up feel a lot quicker - if that makes sense? and it's a million times better looking than the old plastic one .

Re: 52mm throttle body
I think that's about right when it's fitted on a standard car but when fitted to a car with appropriate air filter system and exhaust, enabling it to work to it's full potential, there are a few more ponies let loose. The difference is also more noticeable on a VVC when the mech kicks in at high revs... Smashin'Nick wrote:... Re: 52mm throttle body
1bhp or lots.....There's only one way to find out.............................

Re: 52mm throttle body
Yeah, the rolling road day is a great idea, but it won't show how much bhp you get from a throttle body, unless you went on one for comparison just before it was fitted and you had all your other stuff fitted... or you plan to take your old plastic one and swap it there!
