Wriggly - broken!! Empty Wriggly - broken!!

Post  dressur 12/8/2008, 11:54 pm

Just set off on our South Devon road trip - and only got as far as junc8/9 of the M4. Pulled out and overtook a lorry, and when I pulled back in and eased off the throttle-revs bottomed out and Wriggly hiccuped! Tried again, same thing happened - so I pulled off the motorway and called a breakdown truck to get us home! Got a very disappointed small boy, an empty fridge - and a car which is full of fuel, had coolant, oil and tyre pressure checked, and a good wash - ungrateful git!

NOT A HAPPY BUNNY!!!!!!!!! Crying or Very sad

Sorry to hear this, had a similar thing on my Discovery years ago and it was the cambelt, hope it's not that. Did the recovery man say what was wrong with it?

I've got a few bits of car floating around, so if you do need any parts post on here and we'll all help out I'm sure.

Recovery man was a tosser. Got out of his truck and said sarkily" Head Gasket by any chance?" I took an instant dislike - so refused his kind offer to tow me to the garage and got him to give us a lift home instead!

Note to self - RAC or AA next year - not 'ETA-The 'green' recovery service'

Uh oh, sorry to hear that Ally. I have to say i used to use a breakdown service on my car insurance and whenever they came out they were useless and just did the basic recovery service without ever trying to look at the car. Half the time they wore dirty greesy old clothes (which I didn't want them sitting on my car seats in) and didn't know what an engine looked like! That's why I changed to the AA and since being with them I have called them out 7 times. 4 times they fixed me, and 3 times they correctly diagnosed the problem which had to be sorted out at the garage. I know people have had varying experiences with breakdown services, but the AA have provided me with excellent service every time.

I hope wriggly isn't in too bad a way. If you need any parts, then give me a shout, as I may have them! I still have a spare engine, but it is in pieces and needing a few bits, but all possible to sort out.

I made him sit on a towel - greasy git!!

Corin is coming to have a look tomorrow - he said he thinks he knows what it is and reckons it's a cheap fix. But if I do need any bits - i'm sure I'll be on here scrounging away! He has an MG graveyard, so can probably break bits off one of his written off ones if necc!!

I hope it doesn't turn out too serious. These things always happen when you're planning nice things and drain your account so you have to wait even longer for them...

My dad is quite relieved - my sister and I have a long tradition of pinching his Defender for a spot of 'sand rovering' - and he gets quite upset when he sees his pride and joy belting round the beach at low tide - especially when we've brought it down the estuary to get there!!

That sounds great. I'd love a 'Landy' again, and a defender would be just perfect. Can't afford any more vehicles though, so I'll just have to dream about it! Don't think the 'F would handle green lanes and mudplugging to be honest...

Terminal in that you can't fix what aint broke!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with him - Corin thinks something may have blocked a filter temporarily. He took him out for a blast and came back with a big grin on his face - reiterating what a fantastic car he is and how I've got myself a bargain!

I'm not a happy bunny because I should be sand rovering at the moment - and I'm sat at home sulking!
