Re: Air Intake scoops
Good idea Mark. I've been looking at scoops for quite a while. I'm quite surprised I've only seen one car with them fitted. They are readily available from eBay... Have a look here.
As my air filter is already fed from the nearside vent, so already getting cold air, the scoop will help to actually force the air in, so I'm hoping to see a difference to throttle response and fuel economy!
By the way, I think you're quite brave modifying a Limited Edition MGF! I would suggest that as these scoops have to be bonded to the existing trims, it may be an idea to obtain another set for the mod on so you can retro fit the originals should you wish to sell the car in the future.
Rich.

Re: Air Intake scoops
I got some from here http://www.m-99.co.uk/Car_Bodykits/MGF/mgf.html ages ago, but not got round to fitting them. Still sat at the back of the garage!

Re: Air Intake scoops
Yup I have some too, but havent fitted them yet, I'm waiting to find a rover 820 or 827 airbox for a cone filter first. I've never seen them fitted to a car andn I'm not sure wether to keep them black, spray them body colour or put a carbon effect film on them?

Re: Air Intake scoops
That's one of the reasons I haven't got any yet. As I've got silver trims on a blue car now, which I really like, I suppose the best thing to do would be have the whole thing silver. But it's the black mesh inside that really finishes them off nicely and you wouldn't see much of them from a side profile. I wouldn't want to make them body colour as they would just look like weird bumps on the side...
Hmmm. More thought needed...

Give it five minutes and we'll all know what it is... Just like all your other 'Top Secret' projects! We'll have to weed out the snitches...scubastewart wrote:It's top secret!

Re: Air Intake scoops
I think you'll find it's mastik. That's what's usually used for bonding bodykits. I used it on a spoiler on my MG Maestro way back in the 80's!

Re: Air Intake scoops
I really can't answer that one, having no experience. But I know when I fit mine, I'll be bonding mine some other way and may put a small bolt or wire through, then use some isopon or something to hide it before rubbing it all down and spraying it. They way, they will never come off!

I have fitted my scoops now (I've sprayed them body colour), I used araldite and clear mastick and it seems to be clinging on OK so far
