Does it actually make a difference what fuel you use? I stuck a tank of 97ron in at Sainsbos this morning, and I'd swear the car was different on the way home tonight - I had someone arsing around on my tail at one point, put my foot down in 5th gear - and when I looked in the rear view mirror a few seconds later - he was fading into the distance! i usually have to drop down a gear to prove a point like that! It feels much pokier in high gears, and I'm not stepping on the loud pedal nearly as enthusiastically as usual!
Am I just imagining things?

Re: Fuel
Shouldnt make any difference on our engines as they are designed to run on standard uleaded and do not have knock sensors!

its all that that work you been doing on the car its happy!!
Actually juast realised that you bought supermarket petrol, i always think that the stuff from there is watered down or something, i stopped buying supermarket petrol years ago. So the fact that you put the 97 stuff in isnt necessarly inporved standard proformance, just given you back what your standard proformance should be!! if you catch me drift!

Unlike its owner - who has just reduced her entire team to fits of hysterical laughter with her unprofessional and unladylike language whilst trying to do her own binding!! It's just been gently suggested to me that I stick to what I'm good at (Think they mean flirting with journalists and drinking coffee!!) So much for trying to be a team player!!

Re: Fuel
All this nonsense and nobody has hit the real reason yet. Super unleaded burns slightly hotter and faster than normal unleaded. This results in a slightly larger explosion in the combustion chamber, resulting in slightly more force. So you get slightly better performance. Have you got that, or are you slightly confused?!?!
Rich.

I teach him the same lesson every day!! He has a go - I play nicely for a bit , then I put my foot down and leave him to it. He catches up when I slow down for a 40 limit, and the process happens all over again! He's obviously got a very shallow learning curve!! Mind you - he's only about 12!!!
